BBC Text : [Financial Times reports that the
cost of servicing the UK's debt and paying its welfare bill is set to soar by £50bn in the next financial year because of rising inflation and interest rates. The paper says the additional payments will "leave the new Tory leader hoping tax revenues remain strong" at a time when the Bank of England is expecting the economy to fall into recession.] https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cp...2441_ft-nc.png |

Sir Robert Buckland becomes
first cabinet minister to swap sides as he backs Liz Truss in Conservative leadership race https://news.sky.com/story/sir-rober...-race-12671658 Suck it Up Sunak |
To the voters, this now near certain decision of the Con members who seem to have taken leave of their senses.
Will leave a solid feeling of nothing at all as to the fresh, new broom start of leadership, Ministers, government and overall politics hoped for. This will look with most of the tired old failures of Ministers remaining in Cabinet, as a kick in the teeth to voters who perhaps misguidedly hoped this time the Cons may get it right. The members were left with a dire choice admittedly but to now choose the deluded , out of touch with realityTruss. Voters could be left feeling the Party is just making fools of voters. No fresh start, no fresh look, more hard-line tripe spouted and the only thing certain being fudging and confusion. Truss in my view won't just be a probable disaster, she already IS. Starmer and Davey should just keep their mouths shut. Let this now badly out of touch Con Party do near ALL the opposition Parties work for them. |

[Sunak, has said Britain should designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard, which protects the country's regime, a terrorist organisation after Friday's attack on Sir Salman Rushdie, the Sunday Telegraph reports. The attack followed a religious fatwa against Sir Salman issued in 1989 by the then-Iranian leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, and has been celebrated by Iranian politicians and state media.] https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cp...legraph-nc.png |
