On January 8, 2011, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and at least nine other persons were shot at a "Congress on Your Corner" event at a supermarket in Tucson, Arizona. The suspect was arrested. Giffords died later at University Medical Center in Tucson.

Maybe not a celeb as we see but still if you were American would apply....

When I posted that earlier loads of news sites were reporting she was dead.....now they bactracked, she's having brain surgery after being shot point blank in the head.

Geez.. if she survives that she'll be one lucky woman! (well I don't suppose she'll feel particularly lucky, but you know what I mean)

I remember getting in the night Princess Di died; they were reporting that there had been a car crash but Di had been seen walking away unharmed.. was quite surprised when I surfaced the following day!

Actor David Nelson has passed away at the age of 74.

Nelson died on Tuesday from complications of colon cancer at his home in Century City, CA, reports Deadline.

The star appeared in The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, which also featured his parents, the titular Ozzie and Harriet, and his brother Ricky.

David also appeared in films including Peyton Place and The Big Circus.

Elizabeth Taylor was taken to hospital earlier this week over symptoms caused by congestive heart failure.

The 78-year-old actress, who underwent heart surgery in October 2009, is being monitored at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

Her rep said in a statement: "This issue is being addressed. She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring.

"Her family and close friends are appreciative of the warm support and interest of her loyal fans, but have asked that people respect her privacy and allow her medical team the time and space to focus on restoring her back to health."

One to keep an eye on.
