Something that actually happened perhaps...?

I see, is that what you percieve as a racist riot rant?
And this one conversation on newsnight makes this historian a 'lunatic dick'?.... Ok, bit late to debate it now, will chat tommoz :)

There's also his appearance on 10'O'Clock Live that paints him as a misogynist (albeit sadly not available on 4OD any more) but here're some choice articles:

Then there's

his outburst at 5:55 is particularly reflective of what a levelheaded gentleman he is :spin2:

As the 'Chair' correctly stated: they were trying to discuss the previous points about Syria and Libya - I don't blame DS for his reaction: it was nothing to do with what was in fact being discussed. He answered the man from the audience; and correctly - the audience member was being absurd.

Pyramid* 20-05-2012 11:05 AM

As for closet celebs who are gay: whilst it's natural for people to be curious about someone in the celeb world's sexual preference: as they are high profile I still think it's a pretty low thing for 'anyone, either do it personally/ or via media' to 'out' someone. Celeb or not.

Someone's sexual preferences are their own business - but as I say: people will (and do) like gossip and muck spreading - it's an inherrent faulty gene in humans and one that pretty much most of us are guilty of tbf.

Outburst?...Where.. he responded in the way most defence ministers would...

In all seriousness I really respect him as he is brutally honest..There are not many like him left. His comments never come from a place of malice but are simply his personal opinions warts and all...
The one thing he is not is ignorant, and he always displays a vast knowledge of the topic in question. I feel you are unfairly labelling Mr Starkey, he may appear tactless, eccentric and un PC but I love that.
A plain speaking, no frills, direct personal response is now rare and refreshing.

I don't think that Jessie J is bisexual in the slightest. She's one of the biggest lesbians I've seen in my life

The three main cast of Twilight all seem gay imo too

oh and Simon Cowell seems gay to me as well

-will add more later-

No King Simon is Not Gay.

Except on VIP Comedy on Ch4HD

I just think it's fascinating. Especially gay celebs in Hollywood. People don't realise how much is done to cover up the fact that some are gay. It's beginning to happen more here now in the UK. If an artist, for example, wishes to come out, they are advised not to if they want to make it in America.

Even really obvious gay people like on the X Factor, for example, never really come out. I think it's such a shame.

Z 20-05-2012 12:08 PM

Will Young didn't disclose his sexuality until after he'd won Pop Idol. There's still massive stigma about being gay and famous - the Westboro Baptist Church were protesting at Heath Ledger's funeral because he played a gay character in Brokeback Mountain I think if I remember correctly - and he was heterosexual. A lot of women wouldn't consider accepting a sham marriage for a lot of money, but there are some who would. Just think about it - you have an A Lister gay man who desperately needs to cover that up, he's going to need a wife by the time he reaches a certain age to keep up the pretense. You'd get cash, fame, lots of exposure and probably the greatest acting gig you'll ever get by pretending to be happily in love with this person. Of course, your hopes of having children and a sex life are somewhat diminished but there are many ways to skin a cat...

that's my very point though. It's disgraceful that they have to 'announce' anything - or 'hide' anything - of such a personal nature.

What they do under the sheets has nothing to do with anyone else other than the people they are sleeping with. (unless of course they are cheating.... in that case, their 'other' may want to know what the hell!!!).

I do understand the need for the goss..... we all fall foul of it - all of us - but I think it is unbelievably sad that people have to cover anything up or live in fear of being 'outed'. It's disgraceful.

I agree completely.

I can't wait for the day that a celeb can be openly gay without everyone thinking it's a big deal.

I've always suspected George Clooney is probably gay.

Oh, and Justin Bieber. When I saw the thread title "Justin Bieber - Boyfriend' I thought he had one.

Marc 12-10-2012 08:02 PM

 Maybe that was planned Livia

And bb12, Russell Brand probably just loves every form of sex, I would say he loves both genders
