TiBB Christmas Panto 2012 PROLOGUE Friday 21st December 2012 : 11.55pm In their luxurious Palace, in the heart of TiBBLand, King Glennius and Queen Katherine were tucked up in their California King Bed. Both were anxiously watching as the clock on the bedside table ticked towards Midnight. King Glennius breathed a sigh of relief as the hour finally arrived and down in the village, the Church bells chimed. The Royal couple had been very afraid of what this day would bring. Wizards and Soothsayers throughout the realm had been prophesying disastrous events and possibly even the end of the world. They poured themselves a glass each of Cheeky Vimto and reminisced into the early hours about their wedding day in the summer of 1991 and the birth of their beloved twins; Prince Gingernuts and Princess Pixie, six (cough, ahem) months later on this very day. Indeed the twin heirs to the throne were now officially 21 years of age and plans for the future could now safely be made. King Glennius : Wifey! It's time the children were married and giving us grandchildren to enjoy. Queen Katherine : Darling, that sounds spiffing. we can take then on holiday to Clacton on Sea with us and paddle in the sea. We could even take Piddles if Pixie will let him out of her sight for 5 minutes. King Glennius : We shall throw a huge Palace Ball on Christmas Eve and invite the absolute cream of society. Zips can send out the invitations in the morning. Can you organise the entertainment my little Muffin? Queen Katherine: Of course dear. Barbra and the Baubles are the hot ticket right now. I'll email good old Babs in the morning. Our trusty Court Jester, Teddy, will do a great warm up act for the event. The King and Queen were very happy and looking forward to meeting all the potential suitors. Little did they know, but three local businessmen were plotting to throw a very large spanner in the works........ |

Act One Scene 1 Prince Gingernuts and Princess Pixie have spent the morning of their 21st birthday playing tennis in the Palace Grounds.They are taking a break. Zips has brought them some lemonade. The two young royals are discussing the forthcoming Costume Ball and their hopes and dreams for the future. Prince Gingernuts : Pixie, what are you looking for in a husband? Princess Pixie : Well Gingernuts, I've never forgotten my childhood sweetheart who moved away with his family to America when we were both just the tender age of sixteen. He completely won my heart you know, and he said he'd be back for me one day. Princess Pixie walks around the stage looking sad. Prince Gingernuts takes her hands. Prince Gingernuts : Don't despair Pixie. He may return for the ball. I asked Zips to send him an invitation you know. Princess Pixie : You did?!?! That's amazing. Well just maybe he will come back. It's what I've hoped and prayed for, for the last few months. Princess Pixie sings "The Love I Lost" by Sybil. Princess Pixie : So, how about you dearest brother? You've played the field so much in recent years. Thank goodness the syphilis was cured so swiftly. You really should be more choosy. It's time to settle down, I hope that among the ladies invited to the ball, you'll find your soulmate. Prince Gingernuts sighs and looks thoughtfully into the distance. He begins to sing. Act 1 Scene 2 The Bookmakers are conspiring. In the village, the local Bookmakers are playing cards and drinking hot chocolate. (Well, its only early afternoon, they don't hit the hard stuff till later). They have been making plans and mischief is firmly on their minds. Antonio, the ringleader, is going through the master scheme again with his cohorts, Novello and Maloney. Antonio : So Novello, you got us tickets to the ball from the humble servant Zips, did you not? Novello : I did. Piece of cake. Antonio : So no problems then? Novello : No, I had to bribe him with cake. I bought it from Ye Older Teashoppe in the high street. It had smarties on and everything. Antonio : Don't try to claim that on expenses. I've got my eye on you. Now Maloney, did you get the potion from the demented old witch at the Pharmacy? Maloney : Aye, that I did. Pyrria's Potions was very busy today, had to queue for bloody ages. Felt like six months. Antonio : Excellent. Everything should go smoothly tonight then. Put the cards away and you two can be off. I want you back here suited and booted in plenty of time for the ball. I'll treat you both to half a shandy before we go. Novello and Maloney leave the shop and Antonio thinks aloud. Antonio : Tonight my dastardly plot will come to fruition. Novello will slip the amnesia potion into Princess Pixie's drink to make her forget her first love. And the extra ingredient I requested will make her fall in love with the first man to kiss her hand. That will be me. Mwahahaha. As for loverboy, well if he dues show up, Maloney has instructions to take care of him. Antonio sings. Michael Jackson - I'm bad. ******************************** |
Act 1 Scene 3 The Prime Minister, Vixen Valentine, has requested an audience with the King and Queen. Rumours are rife about the nefarious plot concocted by the rascally bookmakers, though nobody knows who is actually behind it. Zips announces her arrival in the study. King Glennius : Welcome Prime Minister. Please make yourself at home and take some refreshments with us. Katherine, get Zips to put the royal kettle on and bring some of your delicious cake from the pantry, my little muffin. Queen Katherine : Yes dear. Prime Minister : How delightful. Don't mind if I do. Katherine rings the bell to summon Zips and asks him to prepare the refreshments. Zips is very impressed by the Prime Minister's presence. Zips : Oh my! It is an privilege to meet you Prime Minister. Prime Minister : Call me Vixen. It's good to meet loyal subjects. Zips beams with delight, and goes off to the pantry, returning quickly with the tea and cake. Prime Minister : Your Highnesses. I needed to speak with you before tonight's ball. There are many rumours circulating that someone is up to no good, and will make an unsavoury bid for the Princess's hand in marriage tonight. Please be on your guard and ever watchful. A bad marriage would be a terrible calamity and bode badly for the future of TiBBLand. Queen Katherine : We most certainly shall be vigilant and Glennius has already instructed Zips to never be far from Pixie's side, haven't you my little cough drop. King Glennius : I have indeed wifey. Prime Minister : Marvellous. Well my mind is at rest now. I'll take my leave of you. Have a super evening. Toodle Pip. Zips shows the Prime Minister out. ***************************** |
Act 1 Scene 4 Princess Pixie is in her bedroom at the Palace, getting ready for the ball, with her best friend Princess Minnie Whirlwind in attendance.The young royals are excited and looking forward to the festivities. Princess Pixie : Look at my new shoes Minnie, aren't they adorable? Princess Minnie : They are absolutely gorgeous Pixie, and perfect with your dress. Do you think there's any chance that your childhood sweetheart might show up? Princess Pixie : Oh Minnie, that would be my hearts desire, but alas, I fear he has long forgotten all about me. He's probably entangled with some American Jezebel called Kiki-Sue or something stupid like that. I pray that by some miracle he shows up tonight out of the blue. Princess Minnie : That would be soooooo romantic. Princess Pixie : (sighs) I know. Princess Minnie : I think you need to take a new attitude though Pixie, protect your heart. It's probably time you moved on. Tonight is all about the future, and you mustn't waste time pining for someone you may never see again. Princess Pixie : I agree. If a suitor impresses me tonight I think I must take him seriously. Let's get ready to party Minnie. Princess Minnie : right, let's drink a toast to a great evening ahead. The two princesses raise a glass of champagne and toast each, breaking into giggles. Princess Pixie sings..... (All about tonight -Pixie Lott) ********************** |
