It takes an extraordinarily strong person to do that line of work.

I imagine. I could not do this.

..I know, I could never do anything like that and see and hear the things that they do and not feel overcome by it all, it isn't something that everyone could do and also do it well, even in schools you know about stuff that's really quite disturbing/upsetting but it's not an everyday thing, at least you have a balance of all the good stuff with it..but they have to deal with all of the awful things every day....

Complaint claims police knew of Ian Watkins abuse from December 2008

http://www.itv.com/news/2013-11-27/c...december-2008/

It looks like the police ignored complaints about Watkin in 2008.

Because she comes off as a boisterous suck job trying desperately to act as public vigilant number one for the regrettable number of people who could be bothered to follow her.

I don't have the words to express how I feel about this case. I couldn't make it through that NME report that detailed in full the stuff most of the press held back. I bet there are a lot of people regretting that Last Train Home tattoo, now.

HMV has said that it will no longer sell any releases by Lostprophets in light of the Ian Watkins trial.

A spokesperson for the high street retailer, which currently operates 140 stores in the UK, confirmed to NME today (November 28) that it will not sell any of the band's music in stores and online, and that staff have been directed to remove stock from shelves.

Inevitable I suppose.

Z 29-11-2013 09:11 PM

I just feel so sorry for the other members of Lostprophets because a lot of vitriol is being directed at them when not only have they done nothing wrong but now their livelihoods have been destroyed and they have no way of carrying on without him or replacing him because he was their singer. Sucks so much.

to be fair, there's a lot of grey areas over the concern that it's been quite known-about for a while (as GiRTh said, 2008) and they didn't know anything...

I mean I know it's a bit different because bands go on tour and probably spend more time together than people in most other jobs do; but I can't imagine he'd be telling them about his fantasies to rape children or openly doing it in front of them - obviously there was evidence going back to 2008 but does that not all stem from his contact with impressionable female fans? So I don't know, it's of course entirely possible they knew or had an inkling and chose to ignore it, but I don't think they would work with him if they knew he was so depraved. They've not done anything since this first came to light in the form of a police investigation like a year ago so...

Stu 29-11-2013 10:45 PM

They almost certainly had knowledge of some of the darker elements of his sexuality and may have turned a blind eye to his engagements with teenage groupies but when it comes to the more nefarious elements ... paedophiles can be obscenely effective when it comes to masking those aspects of their personality so I would give those band members the benefit of the doubt until fact says otherwise. Their careers are already ruined.

Personality? Pseudo journalist correspondent? Producer? Getting people to set up a new band? Their careers are knackered. They'll be doing HMV within months.

http://www.itv.com/news/story/2013-1...ins-sentenced/

He'll be dead within 2.

It's not ****ing long enough if you ask me, that animal should never be let out again, putting children and babies in danger

Ammi 18-12-2013 01:48 PM

..I had read the sentence was due and it says that he will have to serve at least two thirds of it as well...so he won't be back out in society for quite a long time...

Did you read the article? this bit here

"Paedophile Ian Watkins spoke with a female fan from prison the day after he admitted two counts of attempting to rape a baby along with a string of other child sex abuse offences, and she he was going to issue a statement when he was sentenced saying it had all been "mega lolz."

There's no rehabilitating that. I really believe someone that sick, unremorseful and dangerous to the most innocent and vulnerable of society should never be put back in there again, it's so wrong

james130 18-12-2013 02:02 PM

Sentenced today to 35 years.

I agree.

It's clear that he has no remorse at all for his actions or pity for any of his victims and he should be left rotting in prison for the rest of life.

Kate! 18-12-2013 02:34 PM

I read it Niamh, and he sickens me to my stomach, vile creature.

And the women involved are sick as well, truly monstrous.

Kyle 18-12-2013 02:57 PM

Start something was one of my favourite albums as a young teen.

Now I can't even listen to it anymore cos of that ******. Why couldn't it have been Rod Stewart instead.

james130 18-12-2013 03:04 PM

Think mothers should have got the same sentences.
Not only did they commit those disgusting crimes but also severely breached their duty of care. :idc:
