It's called science FICTION for a reason.

I have been involved with Science fiction, especially when I was in a better position to write my Mystical Realms stories. You still make sure you get your science right!

That is why they had science advisers for the Star Trek programmes and some of the Hollywood movies such as Sunshine, which had Professor Brian Cox as a science adviser.

But they've never stuck to scientific facts/principles on Doctor Who. A large part of it is as much "magic" as something like Harry Potter.

Remember when the Earth was "stolen" and nothing catastrophic happened?

it reminds me of one of the audio books with matt smith and amy.

It looks really good. :worry:

Marsh. 05-10-2014 07:01 PM

Matt Smith has audio books?

armand.kay 05-10-2014 07:03 PM

Marsh. 05-10-2014 08:08 PM

Does it not bother anyone that this episode plays fast and loose with science.
1) it effectively repeats the myth about seeing the Great Wall of China from the Moon. You would only be able to discern street lights from Low Earth Orbit.

2) The Moon is tidally locked and goes round the earth in about 30 days, not a few minutes as was implied by the graphic of the rotating Earth as lights go out.

3) The moon also stabilises the Earth at its 23 degrees off the vertical which gives us the seasons, so an increasing moon mass would do more than mess with the tides.

4) Episode ignores accepted theory for origin of the Moon, namely a glancing blow collision with a planetoid called Thea. This was confirmed by samples brought back by the Apollo missions, backed up by Russian samples.

The show also ignores the orign of Earth too, remember The Runaway Bride? There was also that time Gallifrey appeared in the sky, without earth being royally fudged up.

Just on a slightly random note, has anybody else noticed that they've tweaked the theme tune? It starts differently and has a lot more bass to it now.

armand.kay 11-10-2014 07:55 PM

This ep is really good so far

Scarlett. 11-10-2014 09:20 PM

Such a great episode, a lot better than last weeks, felt like a proper Doctor Who adventure, next week looks interesting.

Also, I'm betting Missy was behind Gus.

Shaun 11-10-2014 10:13 PM

excellent episode again :clap1:

who was the voice of Gus? Sounded so familiar.

armand.kay 11-10-2014 10:34 PM

I loved the episode up until they got locked in the carriage and it turned into lab would of been better if the episode was more like "the unicorn and the wasp"

Rob! 11-10-2014 11:30 PM

That was an absolutely fantastic episode! Loved every second :)

Rob! 11-10-2014 11:37 PM

Jarrod 18-10-2014 08:17 PM

One of the strongest episodes this series I think. I absolutely loved Clara.

Glenn. 18-10-2014 09:19 PM

Really enjoyed this episode. Clara is going from strength to strength

Scarlett. 18-10-2014 09:56 PM

Best episode in what has possibly been the best series so far, only Kill the Moon felt like a misstep, the rest of the series has been very good.

Glenn. 18-10-2014 10:11 PM

Kill The Moon is probably my favourite episode of the series now. I rewatched it the other day.

This weeks was fantastic. The monster was creepy and clever.

Next weeks looks great too.

Samm 19-10-2014 10:07 AM

I liked the episode, I always like it when they do earth stories and I kinda warmed to Clara more

I knew all of the places where they went since I live in Bristolhttp://i.imgur.com/yH16fa8.gif

bit confused by that Missy bit at the end

Next week looks like another Earth story

armand.kay 19-10-2014 11:37 AM

Loved the ep!
The start felt like it was from a classic who episode.
