Haven’t even started sadly! Just not had the time at all. Hopefully in the coming weeks! :fc: Isolation might give me chance to do it! :hehe:

I don’t even know if it will be of Kobe now. Depends if I’m in the mood or not when the time comes but he’s definitely “on the list”. I’ve seen this amazing photo of Joni Mitchell that looks like a good challenge - it’s from a few years ago so she’s lovely and aged plus she’s smoking in it which would give me good practice at hands! Idk.

Love all the work posted here! So many different styles.

Oil Painting #2 is in motion:

All drawn up on the canvas here (20”x24” again) and then today I’ve toned it all with a weak solution of Burnt Umber and solvent to lock in the line work and add a fleshy tone to work from as a base (easier than working from bright white I find).

Once she’s fully dried out in the garden shed I’ll be painting away, hopefully in the next couple of days! Will keep me busy at least. Dreading it a bit now actually... :joker:

Made a start finally, this is just under an hour's work, managed to do the whole hand tonight:

Have never painted a hand before and I'm shocked at how well it's coming out, so far anyway at least! :fc:

Wow... It must be wonderful to be able to draw like that. I am green with envy.

Oliver_W 09-04-2020 12:59 PM

Wow LaLa, that looks brilliant :)

LaLaLand 10-04-2020 12:13 AM

Thank you!! I'm pretty much done with the hands now, I went back and worked into the ring and cigarette more after this photograph but other than that the hands are done. Went much smoother than I had anticipated. :joker:

I started working up above the hands today and onto her left eye and cheek, very challenging trying to capture "age" properly but I'm taking my time and trying not to get too flustered. Art is a great distraction from everything right now - I recommend it if you've got some time and are feeling generally anxious about the current situation. Just sit, stick some music on and paint/draw/make something/anything.

That’s brilliant. I always struggled drawing people/portraits. I dug out my pencils and sketch pad yesterday wiped away the dust and going to do a drawing for my best mates grandson....
