Alysia Montano, Brenda Martinez, Molly Ludlow, Ajee' Wilson, Raevyn Rogers, Kate Grace, Phoebe Wright, and Crishuna Williams make Monday's 800 final -- gonna be a bloodbath
|
10.90 in the first round for English Gardner
|
Another big name out -- DeeDee Trotter fails to make the 400 final
|
Trey Hardee's done too, he had a piss poor HJ performance (1.83m / 6-0) and just walked across the line in the 400m with a 72.xx
|
Three Oregon Ducks in the women's 100m final :worship: English Gardner, Jenna Prandini, and Ariana Washington
|
Allyson Felix, Phyllis Francis, and Natasha Hastings make it in the 400!
|
English Gardner wins in 10.74 wind-legal!!! Tianna Bartoletta and Tori Bowie each run 10.78.
Forgot to mention Brittney Reese's 7.31m in the long jump yesterday :o |
Allyson Felix :worship:
I do lol every year tho @ the results from Eugene compared to other venues. Like how Morgan Lake threw nearly 15m in the Shot Put at the World Juniors in 2014 and has never thrown 14m+ since then. That track really is somethin else, it must have magic powers! I love English Gardner but I still don't see her medalling at the Olympics tbh. She's never run faster than 10.9 on a track other than Eugene which is why I'm skeptical |
Now that Russia isnīt attending?, itīll make things a little more interesting.
Most likely either Germany or France will be on top of the medal table and GB will be in third place. It will be more tighter though. Finns might get one medal from Javelin, but thatīs it. The level of competition is and will be too high in the other events. |

There's a really weird rule this year for all sprint events (up to 400) and hurdles events that if you're ranked in the top 12 in Europe you automatically get a place in the final. Christine Ohuruogu isn't even top 12 so she'll have to run 3 rounds </3 |
^ So only the sprints (100m and 200m) have qualification rounds for all the participants?

I don't wanna call it a home-field advantage, but they almost always rise to the occasion and perform well for their fans. All five big-name recent Oregon sprinters (Gardner, Prandini, Washington, Jasmine Todd, and Deajah Stevens) made the 100 semi-final, and I'd bet that Hannah Cunliffe would have too if she was healthy. |

Germany will be great in the field events, but maybe lose somewhat to France in the track. GB will do well also, but i think France and Germany are somewhat ahead. Not much, but just enough. |
Women's 800 was a complete trainwreck. Wilson, Rogers, Montano, Martinez, Ludlow, and Grace all together with 150m to go when Montano takes a spill and also knocks Martinez down and trips up Ludlow who stayed up but still lost her momentum. Grace ended up winning, Wison came in second, and Crishuna Williams kicked like crazy to beat out Ludlow for the third spot by 0.04. Alysia Montano threw a giant fit and was hysterically crying and putting on all these theatrics as she jogged and stumbled into a 3 minute finish.
|
^Yikes, sounds messy
And the Men's 800 was a mess too with most of the big names not even surviving the heats. The only qualifier I've ever heard of out of the top 3 is Boris Berian tbh |
Omg I've missed Jonathan Edwards coverage <333

YASSSSSS DINA
European champion :clap1: |
|
yay, good for Dina! I think it was during World Juniors that I listened to some of her interviews, she comes across well. I like her.

US Trials continue today and high schoolers aren't messing around. Chanel Brissett (16 years old, just finished her junior year) ran a wind-legal 12.95 in the 100H to qualify for the semis, and 18 year old recent HS grads Noah Lyles and Michael Norman each won their 200m heats in 20.04w and 20.06w.
The state of the women's hurdles is ridiculous. It's our strongest event by far, but six different girls made the high school all time top 10 list this year with times of 12.84, 12.95, 13.04, 13.04, 13.08, and 13.17. Not to mention collegian Dior Hall ran a 12.74 last year but has been out this year with a torn ACL. |
Amazing day today. Sydney McLaughlin CRUISED to a 55.46 to win her prelim heat and her chances got a whole lot better with Georganne Moline scratching for some reason. Keturah Orji won the triple jump as expected and Christina Epps just hit the standard on her last jump to take second -- they're both from NJ so I have to root for them. First time we're sending three women's triple jumpers since 1996. Women's steeplechase final was also outrageous, has to be the fastest American race ever. Coburn in 9:17, Frerichs and Quigley in 9:21.

Martyn Rooney defends his European title :worship:
I must admit I haven't been following the US trials since the Euros have started in Amsterdam but I'll rely on your flawlessly detailed reviews to keep up to date  |
Eek Desiree Henry's injury doesn't look good at all
Gotta feel for Churandy Martina, thinking he had just done the 100/200 double in front of a home crowd only be to DQ'd for a lane infringement after celebrating and doing winner interviews |
100H finalists are Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali, Kristi Castlin, Queen Harrison, Jackie Coward, Keni Harrison, Jasmin Stowers, and Sharika Nelvis. Dawn Harper Nelson misses the final by 0.01 :o
