Because if someone posts something particularly good, it might be nice for them to see lots of likes under it :hee:. Sometimes I'll see a post I like but I don't post anything myself if I don't feel I've got anything to contribute, and having a thread filled with lots of "I like your post" posts would just be really annoying for anyone trying to read the thread and scrolling through lots of nonsense.

I just think a dislike option could increase negativity on the forum which isn't really needed.

Wouldn't the "like/dislike" buttons just bring up the same issues as the "karma" feature.
I seem to remember that was a horribly outdated aspect to the forum.

The karma feature sounds different to a 'like' option because it wouldn't be assigned to a member, just individual posts. I can't think of any draw backs to a 'like' option, surely it would just be a positive thing for people to see next to their posts?
