Sakho want to leave West Ham. Not a prolific scorer but he might be a good option for us.

Reds and Arsenal have Slimani bids rejected

Liverpool and Arsenal have had bids rejected for Islam Slimani.

This guy is prolific, scored 31 in 44 for Sporting last year and has a 30 million buy out clause. Think we should seriously go for this guy.

Vardy saying he doesn't want to talk about the transfer until after the tournament... you would think if he'd decided to stay with Leicester there'd be nothing left to talk about and he could confirm nothing's happening, so fingers crossed he does move...

Never thought I'd be hoping for Vardy but there we go.

He is handling it really badly.
I just think he is holding out until the tournament ends to see how well he does. Maybe he wants to play abroad instead.

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy is set to reject an offer to join Arsenal and stay with the Premier League champions.

The 29-year-old England international has not made a final decision, but is understood to favour extending his time at the King Power Stadium.

Arsenal made a reported bid of £20m for Vardy, activating a release clause in his contract and offering him a deal reported to be worth £120,000 a week.

Leicester responded with an offer said to be worth £100,000.

Arsenal do not plan to improve their offer and are thought to be pursuing alternative options.

-spends 3 months hoping for higuain-

GiRTh 19-06-2016 04:42 PM

Thats us ******ed then. Cant see us getting any of the other players we're linked with.

GiRTh 19-06-2016 04:56 PM

Did we activate Vardy's 's release clause just so Wenger can say he tried to buy a striker?

The Headlines should say "Vardy holds Leicester to ransom".
I think Arsenal dodged a bullet.

One thing I will never get about Wenger and will always criticise him for is why doesn't he make more signings from other premiership clubs. We've been looking at Wanyama for ages only for our big rivals to get him. Xhaka looks a good signing but there is still an element of the unknown due to his lack of Premiership experience. Xhaka is probably a bigger risk than Wanyama.

Brother Leon 25-06-2016 11:59 PM

Yes please.

Pogba's agent will meet with Juve on Monday to discuss United's offer apparently.

I can see where you're coming from with him still being a risk with the lack of PL experience because sometimes the league can be too much for some, but thats always said about every player coming into the league now and very rarely do players actually come over and fail badly, only a couple a season usually. I don't think PL experience is a big of a deal as it's made out to be.

Xhaka is an amazing talent. One of the players of the Euros so far. Had we not signed him when we did i don't think we'd stand a chance now with the interest he'd receive during this tournament. Risk or not, i'm so glad we've signed him. He has so much more talent than Wanyama

Thats fair enough but Wanyama cost 11 million Xhaka 30. Is he three times as good? I think Xhaka will be a success but 11 million for Wanyama at age 25 is a steal. And he's played for Poch before so there is little to no risk in signing him.

Maybe he's a bit too similar to Le Coq but he's better than Coq IMO. I'm really surprised Wanyama was so cheap and at that price very surprised we weren't in for him. As Wenger has already spent 30 million I doubt he has much more to spend so I'm poised for no more signings. Wanyama is in our price range and a player that definitely would add something to our squad so I think Spurs just got stronger while we seem to be chasing unrealisitic targets.

After the tournament Xhaka has had i think it's safe to say quite a few clubs would be willing to pay 30m+ for him now. Wanyama in my opinion wouldn't have been a big step forwards, he's a good player but i'd have more faith in Xhaka who is only 23 to turn into a world class player who is also captaincy material, i don't think Wanyama would be in our starting 11 either so it would be a bit pointless. Take away his penalty miss yesterday Xhaka has dominated all games at this tournament, i can't wait to see how he gets on with us, he'll be a big success

I'm not saying Xhaka wont be a success I just cant understand how we let the Wanyama deal go at 11 million without trying to sign him. I think Wanyama would play more games than you think. I'd be for anything that stopped Wenger playing Ramsey or Ox as a holding mid but with our current squad I can see Wenger continuing with his ridiculous experiments. We need more specialist players and players we know can do a specific job not these player who Wenger thinks can play 3 or 4 positions but in reality can barely play one position. I cant see us signing anyone else so I can also see come November or December the same problems will still exist at Arsenal. Xhaka cant do it on his own and from what Ive seen I think he too needs a ball winner along side him

See i see things a lot more differently now. For ages we've tried different duos at centre mid and we've never had a consistent pair which i agree with you on. But Xhaka (avoiding any injuries) will sit in that midfield for years to come, he knows his role and does it well. Rarely does he ever get too far forward and join in on attacks. He's got such an intelligent footballing brain and his passing is ridiculous. Elneny was one of our best players after we signed him, Cazorla, Coq, Ramsey, Wilshere.. our midfield looks better now than it has done for so long. The days of Ox playing there are gone now.

A midfield of Xhaka, Cazorla and Ozil.. we're lucky.

I agree Xhaka is clearly gonna play alot of games for Arsenal. Not sure about the midfield you're proposing as Wenger never plays 433. I think he should and I think players like Walcott and Ox etc might thrive in a 433 where they are more likely to be one on one with a fullback but Wenger doesn't play it for reasons only he knows. As Wenger prefers a 4231 its likely Xhaka will be one of the two with one other. Here s where only Wenger knows what going on as he played a duo of Ramsey and Cazorla against Olympiakos at home in the ECL a game that ended 3-2 to them and you only need to look at their third goal to see everything that is wrong with playing those two as the holding mids. So even though we seem to have good players in that position our manager is a law unto himself and some of his midfield combinations have been bizarre. Hope fully Xhaka will be the reliable midfielder we have been looking for ages.

Finally. Arent West Ham in for him too. I am never hopeful when Wenger has competition making a signing.
