Someone referred to me (along with a few others) as a "Cat lady" in here on Thursday, and that person is on this very page and still denying it. I've seen that word used three times in the past week alone, so I have no idea why some say it's mostly aimed at those on FB. Maybe the reason why some don't find it offensive is because it isn't directed at them and it's coming from a member from their clique?

I'd also like to add that whenever an eviction result comes in, I usually stay away from TIBB to avoid any sort of confrontation, but upon visiting the forum on Friday morning, it was full of Isobelle supporters in Lotan threads gloating and expressing their joy with a display of gifs and smilies. This kind of behaviour needs nipping in the bud - and on both sides. At the end of the day, all this childish nonsense needs to stop and people need to grow up and get over themselves, (myself included). It would be nice if we could all get along, but it's never going to happen. The mods have made their points clear, so we should all now be aware of what's tolerated and what isn't. No excuses.

Heh. Getting along on season just never will happen as people get so passionate about their faves. But it is possible to respect each other whilst disagreeing. Its possible to debate house stuff without being insulting towards other members :)

"Cat lady" is used often and is nothing whatsoever to do with Facebook, its an attack on other fans of hm8s and has been for years and yes i know who it was ,but of course they wont admit to it .....I usually avoid eviction night and as you say reading though the thread the next morning makes me glad I did, as i said earlier the mods need to get a grip on here before there is only the "clique" left on here

I'm curious to know who you think people are "following" and who the "ringleader" is. Kind of pointless to say things and not back it up.

People have lost their thick skins, since bullying was outlawed from the School playground.

Far too much mollycoddling these days.

Bring back bullying, it's for the best in the long run, and it doesn't create adult children.

Well lets be honest, this is what most members seem to want. Want us to get tough on insults, but if we were as tough as they want us to be, yes the members they want banned would be banned, but they would also likely be banned themselves.

Anyway, this discussion is very much needed and I think its going relatively well so far so can members stop sniping at each other and making this personal as I don't want to have to close this thread D:

what's wrong with being called cat lady? i would see that as a compliment personally, cats are fab

Shaun 01-07-2017 05:58 PM

For me personally it's been a challenging season just because of the obvious problem of "having a friend in there" and the token judging and overreactions and fabrications of his character that goes with it. I'm sure I've been guilty of some wrong judgments of HMs in the past but when it's the same kind of OTT, borderline obsessive hatred, it becomes a chore to browse the place.

I couldn't care less about the fans of HMs stuff, the catladies/weaves whatever, I'm just bored of the trolling.

I have a cat and am a lady (sometimes) but lets not pretend cat lady is a term of endearment rather than a 'lives alone and has 200 cats' type insult

So are you saying you've never posted great dislike/hate towards a hm8 ever?

chuff me dizzy 01-07-2017 06:06 PM

I HATE cats with a passion I'm terrified of them

Wizard. 01-07-2017 06:07 PM

NOT me getting infracted for using the term 'catlady' when I am MISS Selena Kyle tyvm

LukeB 01-07-2017 06:10 PM

i've used cat lady before but i didn't think it's an insult because why would it be offensive?

but yeah there's so much trolling and appearance insults on housemates and each year it gets more annoying. their looks have nothing to do with big brother we should comment on their actions, commenting on looks is nasty, i'm sure many people have done it but some can change their ways and realise what they said is wrong.

This is why BBCan/BBusa is my favourite sub-forum because hardly any trolling happens and no words such as slut etc are used. it's a friendly sub-forum compared to the uk sub-forum.

Yes its obviously hard having a friend in there and seeing negative stuff about them.

I was crapping myself for this years as my husband was going to apply and I didn't think I could handle it. Oddly enough if I went on I would love reading all the negative stuff about myself but pretty sure I would be getting banned myself if I saw hate towards my husband like :joker:

I don't think this year has been as bad as usual tbh. Some of the Isabelle hate got a bit too much a few days back but its all generally a lot worse than this.

The Isabelle abuse was a bit much, but other than that I've actually been alot more relaxed this series than I have in other years as the abuse has been kept more towards their personality than their appearance.

It's only ever been an insult, way before it ever started being used on here

I don't agree. It was mild compared to what other hm's had received over the years.
