Thank god Da'vonne wasn't cast. She would have been out first anyway so saves her the embarassment. She'll be one of the first out of The Challenge anyway

RileyH 10-06-2018 06:03 PM

I might perch for Rachel/Elissa & Janelle/Britney but I can't stand Tyler Oakley :/

Headie 10-06-2018 08:33 PM

Welp Janelle ha face :skull:

AarynGriesfan 10-06-2018 10:24 PM

lets go Britney and Janelle!

DouglasS 10-06-2018 10:28 PM

Janelle... queen of surgery

AarynGriesfan 10-06-2018 10:30 PM

Although I have a strong feeling that Victor and Nicole are going to win. He's very athletic and she is smart. Which I guess would make her the only winner to win 2 different CBS shows? I don't want them to win but they probably have the best odds.

Not wholly related to the matter at hand, but I've been trying and failing to get into TAR for years, and have never managed more than an episode or two... assuming I don't just go through the seasons in chronological order, are there any in particular that y'all would recommend for a newb such as I?

(don't worry, I won't start with the social media influencers one, I'm not daft)

29 is a STELLAR and recent season. Everyone's expectations were very VERY low because of the gimmicky twist, but it's a modern day masterpiece and I would recommend to anyone.

25-27 are also really good modern day seasons. 25 is universally loved and it came at just the right time (its impact is similar to Survivor China and Philippines happening after a string of very very very bad seasons), 26 is another season where the gimmick seems awful but the cast is great enough to outweigh it, and 27 is a really slow burner with one team taking up WAY too much screen time but the endgame is superb.

For more old school seasons, 5 is essential viewing if only for the Charla/Mirna experience (and the Colin/Christie experience, which is great enough on its own but wow they're actually coming back to our television screens), 3 is uh-mazing, and then 1, 2, 6, 12, 17, 18, 19, 20 are all very solid.

If you're interested in your Survivor/BBUS crossovers, Alison from BBUS4 is on TAR5, Jordeff are on TAR16 (which is such a bad season that they are somehow one of the best teams), Jessica and Cody were on the recent TAR30 (which is fine, lots of people love it but I think it was merely okay), Romber were on TAR7 and 11 (and surprisingly they were a suffocating presence on both seasons... 11 is an All-Star season btw), Ethan and Jenna are on TAR19, and Brenchel are on TAR20 and 24 (24 is an All-Stars season and is ATROCIOUS). I think that's everyone?

OH, and Natalie/Nadiya are on TAR21 and 24, which are both very very bad seasons but 21 *might* be worth it for the Twinnies Experience.

One of the returnees is from that season (28), which is just mediocre.

The others come from an array of varying quality: 5, 20, 23, 24, and 29.

Think again, troynuncdicit: South Pacific's Keith/Whitney are on TAR25 and BB17's Jeff/Jackie were on TAR26 before crossing over to Grodner's show.

The older seasons are much better and more entertaining than the newer seasons. 1, 3, 5, 7, 11 (All Stars), 12, 14, 15, 17, 18 (another returnee season but my fave season ever), 19, 20, 21, 25 and 26 are my Top 15.

25 is probably a good one for you to start with - a recent series, fresh teams, high drama, and a generally positive vibe for the season. Can say the same for 26 as well (although that one has some weird blind date theme where half the teams don't know each other - but in some cases that made it even better). Generally though I do prefer seasons with pre-existing team relationships rather than strangers being paired up.

Or pretty much what Troy said

Eliza/Corinne is iconic

Thnx to Troy, Hayden and Valmafra for the suggestions  I don't have the time to go through all the seasons in chronological order (hence why I'm picking out a handful to watch over the next few months, starting with the earlier ones), so hopefully I'll be vaguely caught up by the time this season actually airs!

In the mean time, I've decided to fairly arbitrarily root for Colin and Christie despite them being one of the few pairs I've never actually seen in action, because that's how easily influenced I am, and hoping for... idk, Chris and Bret to be first out? (obviously Laura Boneham has a special place in my heart as well)

Macie Lightfoot 04-07-2018 08:57 PM

Just gonna leave this here for ya even though I'm sure you'll watch TAR5 eventually since it really is the Pearl Islands of TAR.

Two standout moments are at about ~16:05 and ~27:35 fwiw
