The House passes it on to the Senate to hold a trial but they haven't done that yet as Mitch McConnell and other republicans have stated their intention to ignore proceedings and acquit Trump regardless of the evidence.

The House impeaches, the Senate convicts but the problem is that the Republicans are incapable of impartiality and are instead projecting that onto the other side. The evidence of Trump's crimes are overwhelming, no one who can claim to be reasonable or fair can doubt that Trump abused his power. It's not a partisan issue, it shouldn't be a partisan issue but the republicans are trying to spin it like that since they can't argue with the facts. They aren't denying that Trump did what he did but instead they're making out that the process is unfair despite Trump constantly committing crimes and offences that would have seen normal presidents resign or be removed if they committed such acts.

He needs to face a fair trial for his crimes but he'll never get that since the Republicans will not convict one of their own regardless of their guilt.

Seventy percent of the US population wanted witnesses so those senator who blocked them, can now go back to their constituents and explain why they went against 70% of the population in an election year.. Some, moderate Republicans like Susan Collins of Maine are in tough races in moderate districts so have got one hell of a fight to be re-elected and this certainly wont help them. Collins is already on thin ice cuz she was the deciding vote that propelled Brett Kavanagh to the Supreme court and a few people want her gone for that alone. The Republicans are so living in the moment and dont seem to realize there's gonna be payback sometime down the line.
