This is a picture of my Dog who passed in May, he was 14, Mickey. He became poorly all of a sudden on the Monday, didn't eat, was drinking water but couldn't keep it down. So by Thursday we couldn't let him suffer, as heartbreaking as it was, and trust me it was, we took him up the Vets to put him to sleep. They allowed me in the Vets (during Covid times) because they'd do that for euthanasia. My bestest little Buddy in the whole world fell asleep in my arms. I kissed him, and thanked him.

Anyway, this picture is sad, and beautiful at the same time. The cat, Molly who knew Mickey from the day she was born (she was 8 months old in the picture), idolised him, and she knew, she was saying goodbye. The picture was taken an hour before we left for Vets.

...oh my Lord, her paw on him in telling him that he needed to not feel it anymore, that he needed to go and be peaceful../...so heartbreaking but beautiful in her love for him...it’s such an achingly painful thing to say goodbye to such a loved family member but obviously, you know that...there was never any choice, not ever...and we can make these decisions for our animal family members but we can’t for our human ones...

..a few years ago we had something similar with my mother in law..it was very sudden in that he developed a brain tumour and the impact of that on his health was so fast and so sad and devastating...it was made more devastating as well because of another very personal emotional association she had with him...anyway, the decision had to be made for her...actually feeling in your arms the life leave a body is just indescribable even though you know that moment of peace is so needed for such a most loved .....I’m so sorry for your loss...because you feel that loss so deeply, it’s obvious the wonderful life of love and family that he had.../...no consolation at times, I know...

Swan 29-09-2020 06:11 AM

Oh that's so sad Ammi, and yes it's painful, heartbreaking. But you know you've gave them the best life you possibly could. I mean Mickey slept on our bed, sometimes in it, he would scratch to get under the covers (some would be like ugh, but nah, he's family) lol.

And yeah, Molly knew, she loved, followed him everywhere. I couldn't get another dog just yet. Though i would need a dog good with cats, and i'd only ever get a rescue dog, so it might be a bit dodgy. We'll see though, in time maybe :)

...a long time ago when I was a child...I recall my mum saying..well yes, this is your new dog member of the family and he’s very lovely etc...but he will never, ever, ever be allowed in the front room on my lovely carpet and sofa etc...don’t you children even think about that because I’m having none of that nonsense...he has a lovely bed in the kitchen...maybe a few days or a week or so later...?..there he was, snuggled in bed with mum and dad and her being perfectly fine with it...he was so sneaky with his charm and so shameless with his bed hopping from one family member to another and going around and around the beds...

Ammi 29-09-2020 06:29 AM

...with cats as well..?...I was always, always a dog person because we’d always had family dog people...but my son found two kittens in a bin one day and adopted them...and oh my Lord, those two cat people......no one ever told me the character of cats...

Yep, same with me really, never had cats as a child. But then, one of the many (grrrraaahh makes me mad) cats they have next door (which they care very little for, shut out all night, left to fend for themselves etc), which they only got to keep the rats they had away, had kittens. There is a few that have had kittens, they never get them neutered. One of their cats who lives in the shed, has had 3 litters this summer, i feed it every day, poor little mite. Anyway, im ranting.....

So basically they would shut this other cat out all night, and every time i let Mickey out in the garden it would run in ours, i fed it, stroked it and off it went. Then it started to come in and run up the stairs, we think so she didn't have to go back out. Anyway she was getting bigger and bigger so we knew she was pregnant. We just said 'ok she's ours now, she can have her babies here and we'll give them good homes'. Baring in mind she was barely a year old and about to give birth, a tiny cat she is too. So the time came, she had a big box, papered and comfy, she gave birth to SEVEN kittens. However, we started to name them, we gave 3 to friends, and kept 4 (yes we only intended to keep one haha). Molly, Teddy, Daisy, and Gizmo because that one looks kinda like a Gremlin

All lovely, all have their own characters. Sadly, my boy, the only boy Teddy, got ran over and died 3 weeks after Mickey passed. It was rough!

Here are some pictures

Swan 29-09-2020 07:03 AM

The cushion with Teddy on, the lady who ran the shop who does those, ask if she could make a duplicate and put it in shop window which was kinda lovely :)

Teddy, the only boy, always wanting to be centre of attention, even death will get passers by making a fuss over him :)

....awww, that was so incredibly tough to have lost the boy just after Mickey.....it’s almost as if he might have not wanted Mickey to feel scared or lonely...so, there he was with him...?...Great names, btw......

...because I’d personally never known cats or kittens, I read up quite a bit when I became grandparent to them, which I’m prone to do with stuff...and the ‘psychology’ of them being abandoned as they were and obviously being brother and sister and how they relate to each other in their differences more than their similarities is very interesting actually...and it probably sounds weird but it does make complete sense as well ...because they really are so different but their love for each other is so obvious and so strong...

...the first pic that you posted, Swan..?...they’re my grandkittens, you’ve stolen them...the tabby and ginger, they’re so like them..ginger is the guy, tabby is the lady and oh, what a lady...

...the cushions are gorgeous.....there are also some sites which I found last year at Christmas...where you can upload a pic or a collage of pics and have many different things made...I had a movie night in snuggle blanket made for their human parents, with some of my favourite pics of their two cat children...you can choose text options to add as well...but it is more personal and lovely when it’s someone you know like that lady...
