£200 off the Electric bills in October

[And so all domestic electricity customers will
receive a £200 discount on their electricity bills
from October and this discount will automatically
be repaid from people's bills in equal £40
instalments over the next five years.]

That's called a loan, not a "discount" :idc:.

The only real solution for anyone who is going to struggle to pay more is to cut usage. Eating vs Heating. Shameful in a supposedly 1st world country.

Vanessa 03-02-2022 11:48 AM

I have a meter, so at least I can manage it better than the bills.

This crisis could end up killing more than Covid for the lower income families. As TS said its shameful for a country like this for people to be seriously thinking about having to choose between heat and eat.

Yes its a Loan
on slow pay back over 5 Years
at £40 a year increase

BBC called it a Discount
not me.

bots 03-02-2022 12:17 PM

it stems from a complete failure to be self sufficient in our energy needs. Gross mismanagement across government and our energy producers/suppliers

Thank goodness we have not had a winter

arista 03-02-2022 12:19 PM

Also many will get a £150 off their Council Tax
that is not a payback
