Has he done himself any harm though?….to be seen to be protecting the one you love and showing support for all those who suffer with alopecia…his speech spoke of doing crazy things ‘for love’…whilst making reference to his film he also excused his own behaviour…is everyone hating on him?

It’s all a bit odd…I mean the presenter did seem a bit in shock after the whole debacle sunk in…but that’s the only thing that will convince me it was real. However the presenter also seems to lean his head towards WS right hand to make the ‘slap’ reaction look more exaggerated…

I still don't think it was staged but Will Smith seems to be having a lot of people defend him and making out he's some sort of gallant knight so I actually don't think it will do him any harm

Case in point:

i dont think PM was keen when Clarkson chinned him?

Funny how with all of the technology we have…we don’t have a close up slow motion take of the slap ….then we could all really see just how real the slap was.

Crimson Dynamo 28-03-2022 06:42 PM

what man slaps a man?

such a (insert word that could lead to an infraction) move

:umm2:

Vanessa 28-03-2022 07:01 PM

He shouldn't have slapped him. But that joke was very offensive and cruel.
Making fun of someone who is clearly suffering? Nasty.

I'd literally forgotten she existed until yesterday :joker: she's like anti-funny isn't she, it's like whenever she tells a joke I un-laugh, if that's even possible :joker:

Will smith is a dick head, happy for his wife to jump up and down on other men’s dicks and then come home to him and the kids but goes on the attack for a joke.

Opening her mouth is enough really. She really is awful. Just as a person and comedian.

Like i said before, i think they both have an understand where they're allowed to shag others.

A lot of people are saying he was wrong though. It's not like people didn't already love Will Smith or that he needed a career boost, he literally won an Oscar the same night. So why would he do something so risky to jeopardise that? He's lost more fans than gained imo even if some people think he was in the right

OK Jussie, we believe you.

Alopecia is not a deadly disease though, it fundamentally affects a persons self esteem, so in that regard Will completely over reacted. On the other hand, it's not really good form to undermine an individuals self esteem in front of a live world wide audience.

I just find the whole thing quite bizarre and then to see Will having a great time at the after party afterward is weird. It's like he has no self awareness at all

Yeah by sounds of it the joke was insensitive , wonder if Chris Rock knew about Jada's condition?.

It's ashame Will Smith lashed out the way he did , he could have handled it better.

He should have just said to Rock " listen man that joke wasn't funny " or something along the lines of " you've crossed the line there". And he could have made Rock feel bad about what he said. He should have just used his words and stayed calm .

But by getting angry and throwing his hands , it's made him look like a loose cannon with a short fuse. And Rock probably enjoyed winding him up despite being taken aback by the slap .

I did wonder if it was staged ,but it seems like it was real as both reactions of Smith & Rock seem like genuine anger & amazement.

Also his initial reaction was to laugh…although his wife’s reaction was the opposite…

glib 28-03-2022 10:06 PM

So overreported, how is this front page news? No one cares about Will Smith anymore, no one knows who Chris Rock is, no one watches the Oscars.

It seems once he saw how upset Jada was then that pushed him over the edge.

Like I said nobody is talking about the actual Oscars, they're more focused on will Smith's outburst. Which is why I initially thought this was some publicity stunt , now I think it's real.

But this year's Oscars will be remembered for a silly joke that Chris Rock made, and Will Smith slapping him on stage.

What on earth has that got to do with anything, once again you're making this into something it ISN'T.

But what I will say is if a comedian from across the pond made the same joke re : Will Smith's wife ie Ricky Gervais ,then I think more people would dislike the comedian.

As I've noticed Americans look after their own ,but when a British comedian goes over there and pokes fun / makes risque jokes, then it's frowned upon alot more .And they seem to resent it.
