I don’t enjoy the Eurovision contest anymore tbh…however this was a vote for Ukraine and speaks volumes. Good for them.

user104658 14-05-2022 11:12 PM

Will UK end up hosting next year anyway?

1) it’s obviously not going to be in Ukraine.
2) UK came 2nd
3) Current political reasons/UK support of Ukraine…

Babayaro. 14-05-2022 11:13 PM

Will be interesting to see our approach to next year’s entry as the only way is up here

Vanessa 14-05-2022 11:14 PM

Yeah, Ukraine won't be able to host it

First time I have watched the whole show in decades.
Really enjoyed it, some fantastic talent tonight.
Pleased the Ukrainian entry won, shows how we all support them.
UK did amazingly well, great singer and good song.

i think its quite likely unless there is a massive improvement in ukraine, and lets face it, ukraine has 10000 priorities ahead of paying for a singing contest

Not taking anything away from Sam, but I think a lot of europe has seen how much the UK has been supporting ukraine, and thats probable softened political opinion of us

Babayaro. 14-05-2022 11:22 PM

Where did we place in the televote?

I can’t be arsed working it out

I do think that's very likely tbf, if it was in Ukraine it could be in Lviv or Poland would be the other option

Yeah I'm curious about that too, guessing 6th/7th

Never mind, see Adams answered!

I see all the people tediously saying we would get zero points are jumping on the “its a fix!” bandwagon

Big difference between something being a fix and something being predictable, i.e a Ukraine win

Strictly Jake 14-05-2022 11:31 PM

That was so exciting!

Sweden was my favourite overall song

But wow I'm so happy for the UK! And obviously Ukraine for winning

Liam- 14-05-2022 11:33 PM

We broke the record for the biggest jump between consecutive finale placings

Honestly such a wild experience to see us actually do good, hopefully this gives the bbc a kick up the arse and we don’t slide backwards again

Withano 14-05-2022 11:36 PM

Sam Ryder for king of England

Denver 14-05-2022 11:37 PM

I told you all we would do really well

Mystic Mock 14-05-2022 11:39 PM

My ratings of tonight's performances.

Czech Republic - 6/10
Romania - 7/10
Portugal - 8/10
Finland - 9/10
Switzerland - 6/10
France - 9/10
Norway - 9/10
Armenia - 5/10
Italy - 8/10
Spain - 6/10 - Not really my song, but I'm happy to see them do well.
Netherlands - 9/10
Ukraine - 9/10 - I know that some people will be upset about why they've won, but tbf the song is actually catchy. And in fairness it's not like it's a normal situation that they're going through.
Germany - 8/10
Lithuania - 5/10
Azerbaijan - 8/10
Belgium - 5/10
Greece - 7/10
Iceland - 4/10
Moldova - 9/10
Sweden - 9/10
Australia - 8/10
United Kingdom - 10/10 - Sending out a really good song with a strong vocalist gets us a good result, funny that.
Poland - 9/10
Serbia - 10/10
Estonia - 9/10

I've got to be honest I thought my eyes were playing me up when I saw the UK & Spain in the top 3.:joker:

bots 14-05-2022 11:40 PM

We all knew last years performance was the pits. The difference between this year and last year was night and day

Liam- 14-05-2022 11:41 PM

Genuinely didn’t expect to come anywhere close to the top 5 in the televotes, that’s mad

I had us about 8th so was surprised we got top 5 because it takes a while to gain trust back after years of bad results

MTVN 14-05-2022 11:49 PM

Hopefully this will mark a bit of a turning point in how we treat the contest but then I remember thinking that after Jade Ewan did so well and then we returned to the same old rubbish (apart from Blue)
