One of the student victims of the Nottingham stabbings has 'died a hero' as she bravely tried to fight off the attacker and protect her friend, who also died. Grace O'Malley-Kumar, 19, had the opportunity to run from her attacker after fellow student Barnaby Webber, 19, was stabbed from behind.

She instead opted to fight off the man in an attempt to save Barnaby's life, according to eyewitnesses.

Medical student Grace, who was a talented hockey player for the England Under 18 and Under 16 squads, was walking home from a club with Barnaby when the horrific attack happened.

The resident said Grace "tried to save" him.
