i do think her card has been marked. I expected 2 or 3 police resources to be put on this at a maximum. I don't know if she is guilty or innocent, but she has gone after very powerful people in the recent past and they have clearly plotted their revenge before they get flung out of power later in the year

I do agree with what you're saying.

It's just crazy from a moral perspective, that the Government and the Councils are more bothered by Tax Fraud (which I don't support tbh) but they'll go for that way harder than they will on actual evil crimes like murder, paedophilia, rape, and people that throw Acid onto other people.

It's sick and twisted imo.

If this had been a tory, then the whip would have been removed and the local party would have deselected her.

For the good of the party, to quote Oliver Cromwell, "In the name of God, Go!"

From the DT

Labour destroyed documents that could have revealed Rayner’s living arrangements
Party says selection papers from deputy leader’s candidate application ‘disposed of’ in line with ‘data protection requirements’ (at the weekend)

And you thought the Tories were dishonest...

[The front page the paper uses the word
"beleaguered" about deputy
Labour leader Angela Rayner amid more
revelations about her property paperwork.
Ms Rayner has previously denied any
wrongdoing in relation to her property
sales and capital gains tax payments.]

BBC News Text :
[Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner
has reduced her tax bill by declaring
her new flat in Hove as her main residence,
according to the Daily Telegraph.

The paper suggests Rayner has saved
£40,000 by making the declaration
on her new £800,000 flat, but also makes clear
this is "entirely legal".]

She literally has no shame

So once again she is being super dodgy about her living arrangements, the people who elected her will be delighted that she no longer sees her home there as her primary residence

Zizu 29-08-2025 07:11 AM

Sounds like she has all the qualities to make a high profile politician

So, AngelaRayner is understood to have removed her name from the deeds of
her house in Greater Manchester a few weeks before buying an £800,000
seaside flat in Hove, East Sussex.

She then told the tax authorities the seaside flat was her main home.

The change enabled her to save approx. £40,000 in stamp duty charges.

Surely if your constituency MP moves to basically the other side of the country, you can call a bielection?

Cherie 29-08-2025 08:12 AM

Gets worse her main home for Council Tax payments is in Manchester

Surely she cannot keep her job?

They are all the same when it comes to cooking the books

It does put a smile on my face when voters think they are voting for someone they can trust to represent them in parliament
The rich get richer and the poor get poorer that will never change

I’ve never voted and never will because it’s a waste of time

Oliver_W 29-08-2025 08:52 AM

I only ever vote for local independents or spoil, I'm not voting for any party.

What this does more than anything is encourage the GBP to gain the system in everything that they do. If the deputy PM thinks it's ok, then it's ok for everyone. It will be interesting when they next take people to court for doing the same type of stuff
