Biden to give $770 payout to victims. I honestly thought this was a joke. What is going on. Meanwhile they keep sending millions to Ukraine!!! They're all in it together and something else is happening in Ukraine!!

It's the republicans in congress that are refusing to pay any money to california. Bidens hands are tied on it, he cannot fund any payment without their support

LA's lowlifes: The 'looters, burglars and
drug addicts' arrested during Palisades Fire
all share common trait

[Dozens of people accused of looting
homes and stores in the ritzy
Pacific Palisades enclave of LA during the deadly
fires have been pictured in police mugshots.
Cops charged more than 40 detainees
with various offenses including burglary
and drug possession since the fires
broke out on January 7.

Remarkably, none of those arrested
were actually living in the evacuation zone
and seemingly travelled with the intention
of taking advantage of the devastation.]

One reason we have so many insurance companies leaving disaster-prone areas is because federal money enables mismanagement of maintenance districts and misplaced funds. The money NEVER makes it to the people. If that person has any kind of valid insurance, it's an automatic denial. So even if State Farm, etc, offers a pittance, they're SOL.

If it's not covered, one has to get a denial letter from their insurance carrier which causes a $0 claim which WILL skyrocket their rates. It's not worth it only to be denied by FEMA or only to get the $770 quoted.

We always get "fully funded" where we are and the money goes straight to City Hall/local politicians where they get to disappear it. The massive numbers go to local governments and "loans". Sometimes the local govt will create programs, take some applications and cry there needs to be changes (building of reservoirs, more crisis mgmt, etc), but then almost never follow up on any of those things. Maybe one or two houses are fixed to make it seem like it's just taking time, but it never gets to the people and by time it's forgotten, the money is already gone.

FEMA itself will do "grants", but they're rare. Most people are stuck with SBA loans instead to pay off their own disaster (at a very low rate, but still). They consider that "assistance"... and then the applicant still has to deal with their homeowners insurance jumping up in rates because they have to "prove" they can't cover a flood which no primary insurer does... FEMA is a scam. Congress is a scam. "Disaster assistance" is a scam... and the $7XX payout is the typical shut up money that we can expect from our politicians to kick the can down the road.

So no. It's not "Republicans". It's all of them. Part of the reason we keep having to raise the debt ceiling is because of these payouts. No one wants them to stop because it's easier to budget when one doesn't have to consider a potential disaster. It's better to wait until the aftermath that way they can take the federal govt handout. What taxpayer in a disaster is going to say no to "disaster assistance". It needs to stop.

More examples...

Flood insurance program mismanagement
(Fast forward to 10:00 if you want to save time for the main argument&rebuttal)

13 Investigates learns more Houston-area homes are repeatedly flooding
https://abc13.com/post/13-investigat...ding/14891909/

^^ The above is more common than some think. The Flood district (which we pay a specific tax towards) here has bought out plots, and at least in one case I can think of a whole subdivision, with their funding and turned the neighborhoods/blocks back to proper flood plains... no concrete, housing, just trees and fields...in other words, it's somewhere else for the water to go into the ground rather than downstream into other people's home... and the homes of people who once lived there...

FEMA claims used to be more rare here when I was growing up. It was considered reserved for those who didn't have the means to recover, people living in apartment, single parent families, etc... then media started to encourage everyone to apply for it everytime a storm came through and politicians started to beg for more "help". The city didn't get as much scrutiny as long as the checks cleared, so they stopped doing critical maintenance or oversight was lessened. It was never designed to "bail out" individuals who live in disaster prone areas where the local governments aren't doing the necessary work to maintain their district.

FEMA had to come into our area when we had two major longstanding power outages in our city last year. They shouldn't have had to do that, but both the city/state/local utility ignored vegetation... oh, just like in CA... and the overgrown/unmanaged vegetation (mostly trees) during the Derecho storm which was worse than the hurricane.. but then the subsequent Cat 1 Hurricane (which was mild by our standards) obliterated parts of a poorly managed grid due to overgrown vegetation... and so many people suffered and some died because they weren't told the truth about why this was still happening. They thought their leaders had it. Many couldn't even get access to up to date information because the power had knocked out cell. So too many people sat around thinking their power would just "be back" soon... some people stayed in very dangerous temperatures to protect their homes and some did not make it out. If we all knew our grid was this mismanaged or our city was so unprepared, most of us would've purchased generators and in the very least, would not have filled the fridge up with food which is the usual thing to do before a storm comes from. My immediate neighbors all have power generation now (including us), so at least we've learned our lesson.

whipped up by furious winds that had barrelled
in from the desert.

The blazes are still raging. And this week the
so-called Santa Ana or "Devil"

The New Fire
has caused over 30,000
to leave their homes.

Maru 20-07-2025 05:42 PM

Money missing and a lot of homes can't go through rebuilding process because of so many regulations and such making it very difficult for people to start work...

Adam Carolla goes through the area to show what has been rebuilt (or not rather...) he'd predicted this by the way because of the amount of red tape required just to do even basic things in CA...

A great channel for all of California's bigger issues:
