Truuuue but no one could have foreseen this mess, haha. Even when there were supply issues at launch I though “ahh well _Im fine waiting until early 2021” but now we’re at April with no real end in sight to the shortages. |
Does anyone have a Pulse 3D headset? Are they any good? My PS4 Gold headset is getting loads of interference when I try to use it with the PS5 (crackling/cutting out for a second every few mins). On the plus side, the PS5 seems to work with 3rd party USB wireless headsets (the PS4 did not) however my Razer headset (for the PC) isn't playing well with the PS5's 3D audio. It sounds fine if I switch off 3D audio but with it on, music is loud and bassy, sound effects somewhere in the middle and voice is very quiet. The PS4 headset on the other hand sounds great with the 3D audio on - when it's working :idc:.

I just use an old pair of apple iphone plug ins from a few years back, and they sound great to me, but you're far more techno minded when it comes to these things. You'd probably tell me something about the dB level in the left ear causing long term vertigo, and I just want to kill some dude with an axe. |

 I used to be fine with any half decent headphones, but I think once you’ve got used to directional surround sound it’s hard to go back. |
Speaking of techy geeky stuff - I love the controller haptic feedback, especially the triggers. Genuinely think the controller might be what properly elevates the PS5 above the competition this gen (alongside exclusives as always).
I just read something interesting though; apparently in December post-release they patched in more haptic feedback in AC Valhalla ... but completely left it out of the patch notes. Rumours circulating that it was deliberately left out on release, and brought back in "under the radar" so to speak, because Ubi didn't want it to be a "selling point" for the game on PS5 vs Xbxsrsx/PC as they have various deals with Mikeysoft. Honestly can't wait to see how it's implemented by the big Sony exclusive devs 🤓 |
yeah i like the controller a lot too, overall the ps5 is an obvious step up and thats becoming harder and harder to achieve

If i can’t get a ps5 before resi 8 comes out should i just get the ps4 version or wait for the ps5 version i’m conflicted

Just buy from a scalper, it was a top notch experience that I thoroughly recommend. The excitement that it might be a scam really adds to the experience. The delivery date from the courier kept changing, it said it would take a week to arrive, “will it actually be a sack of rice”, “will it really be BNIB or will it be a dodgy one with glitches”, “will it even arrive at all” BUT THEN there’s a knock at the door and it has arrived in 48h, and it really is new and sealed, and everything was fine. The drama, the highs and lows... an adventure not to be forgotten. |

Also have never heard the term "scalper" before |

It's horrendous for the industry; next-gen games are going to start coming out but the bulk of console stock is in some dodgy bastard's basement so sales are going to be poor on games. |

i pre-ordered RE village, it better appear on thursday :worry:

Same, I ordered it with Shopto as they typically have a good history of getting games delivered before release.

Is it me or PS5 controller battery doesn’t last long
|

What I have noticed though is that I need to remember to put it on charge when I'm done, or it'll likely run low the next time I play. I used to go several days between PS4 controller charges... and the old 360 controller I still use on PC (with one of the battery packs) seems to go on forever without needing plugged in. I guess as the tech inside improves (haptics, adaptive triggers etc. in the DualSense) they need more power... but yeah, I think they might have skipmed a little bit on the battery size here, especially for you childless young'uns who still have time for longer gaming sessions. It's possible there'll be aftermarket battery pack solutions but I think the issue with all of the fancy rumble tech etc. is they need to carefully balance battery size/life with the weight of the controller. Bigger battery = heavier controller which effects the haptics. tl;dr Yes it seems to be much shorter than DS4 life but it's not been a problem for me so long as I remember to plug in when I'm done, as I play in short-ish bursts. |
FINALLY got one from the Argos drop today. Gonna dive into RE Village later :flutter:

i found that the controller runs out of juice pretty quickly too, so much so, i bought another as a backup
|
My controller is beginning to drift, I'll buy another one at some point this week and send this one off to be repaired. I can deal with it for the moment though, it's not quite as bad as my last PS4 controller got.
It's quite annoying how drift is such a major issue with modern controllers. It plagued them last gen and nothing has changed. |
I use this pair of battery packs on the Xbox 360 controller.
I don't know if there is something similar for PS5. https://venomuk.com/get/twin-rechargeable-battery-pack/ https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...18d22507a2.jpg |

https://i.imgur.com/dsezaBE.png Personally I'd say the best if-slightly-pricey option if people find themselves running running out of charge a lot is just to buy a 2nd controller... use one charge the other and swap whenever one gets low. |

Sony have bought Housemarquee (Returnal) and reportedly Bluepoint Studios (Demon's Souls remake)
|
I really REALLY want a Midnight Black DualSense but I dunno if I can justify a £60 spend just because "It's Playstation, it's not supposed to be white!" :joker:.
I really don't like the current colour scheme though. It's not an issue with the console itself because that big bastard is too huge to fit in the unit so it sits unseen behind the TV anyway (another perk of not using discs)... but I still have to look at the yucky controller :hmph:. |

I'd feel more out of place with a white console and black controller.

True. The inside of my PC, which has a little window so you can see in, is immaculately organised… but you can’t see it anyway because it’s tucked under the desk. My actual DESK on the other hand is a mess. |

One thing I did find slightly bizarre; it didn't come with a charging cable .
Not really a problem as I already have two "proper Sony" ones on the PS5 (original controller and headset) but still, strange. |

Still have my original one and it's still working perfectly. I had loads of issues on the 4 controllers for drift, though.

Same, no problems with the PS5 pad but I had one PS4 pad that had bad drift. Although… it was actually not my “main” one that I got with the console, which is fine still . My white PS5 pad does actually have a minor issue with the trackpad but sticking slightly when used as a button. Minor because it’s only ever used as a map/menu opening button… it doesn’t really need to be responsive. Just slightly annoying. However - there is always the possibility that my youngest got her sticky mitts on it at some point. Though it feels more like something is stuck under it. It needs a firm push and “clicks” down maybe 20% of the time. |
Hmmm. I just read a thing about controller drift on why PS5 pad, and apparently, the “inner stick” is the exact same component made by the same company on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series S/X… and all can end up suffering from the same issue. Combination of pot luck, how hard you press the sticks, what games you play etc.
