Marc 17-07-2009 10:44 AM

I'm going today!

Happy Harry Potter day to meee!

MarkWaldorf 17-07-2009 12:54 PM

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has passed the $100 million mark at the worldwide box office just 24 hours after its release.

The sixth instalment in the wizarding saga has earned $58.2 million at the US box office and $45.9 million internationally since Wednesday, marking the best start ever for a movie franchise.

Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, Warner Brothers' president of international distribution, told Variety that the "outstanding box office numbers" were a "testament to the universal appeal" of the magical movies.

The latest film has already set a new record for midnight ticket sales after raking in $22 million for US first screenings. The previous record had been the $18.5 million earned by The Dark Knight in 2008.

It was recently speculated that Harry Potter could surpass James Bond as the highest-grossing franchise in movie history.

gavinh2008 17-07-2009 12:56 PM

Hope you have a great time Marcjswp

I went to see it on Wednesday and I really enjoyed it, probs not the best film in my opinion but it was definitely great

I'm deffo going on Monday, can't wait :D

Shaun 17-07-2009 03:50 PM

Seeing this tonight :)

I've heard it's rubbish from my best friend, but he maintains that Transformers 2 is amazing despite not having seen it, so...

Rory 17-07-2009 04:09 PM

I saw it last night. It wasn't as good as the other HP films, but it was still worth watching.

Adamw92 17-07-2009 05:25 PM

I think it was good, not my favourite, i'd put it about 4th on my list out of the 6

Then your friend is most definitely wrong.
Transformers 2 is one of the worst films I've seen.

Shaun 17-07-2009 05:40 PM

Indeed he is. It's terrible.

TheMac 17-07-2009 05:58 PM

Erm, just got back from seeing this film, didn't enjoy it at all. Thought it was by far the worst so far.

Marc 17-07-2009 07:05 PM

Just got back from the cinema! I thought it was excellent, very telling of the story and really helps to shape the next film(s)! Really good film.

I don't understand the dislike towards it, maybe its because the younger ones aren't seeing more wand action and CGI, its good and pretty funny at some points!

MarkWaldorf 17-07-2009 09:50 PM

Yay Marc

Shaun 18-07-2009 01:10 AM

I'd give it 7/10. Good, but a teeny bit disappointing. Very sad ending though :(

MrGaryy 18-07-2009 01:50 AM

the Dumbledore scene at the end with all the wands in the sky, I was like hand over mouth in bits it was so sad.

MarkWaldorf 18-07-2009 12:22 PM

I'm seeing this in a few hours, EXCITED!!!!

MarkWaldorf 19-07-2009 01:05 PM

It was AMAZING! Definitely one of my favourites! I'm seeing it again on Thursday. :D

Sod_James 19-07-2009 03:24 PM

just got back.

It was a good film. better than the last 2 i think. not my favourite but it was good. i was quite slow moving but there was enough humour to get me through to the end. the ending was a little dissapointing. i was expecting a bigger fight at Hogwarts.

But all in all it was a good film. i might even go and see it again.

They decided not to have a big fight in this one as it would be too like the one in the 7th book.

SiaSiaSia 19-07-2009 03:56 PM

wasn't like the book.

Going to see this tommorow, can't waitt

bansheewails 19-07-2009 07:20 PM

Took my sons last night. They enjoyed it but kept interupting to whisper about pieces from the book being missing! The end was sad but the boys were horrified when a growwn man in front of us appeared to be sobbing his heart out!

Gemmer-x 19-07-2009 07:32 PM

seen this today :)
a little dissapointing but good never the less.

amy-jayne 19-07-2009 10:10 PM

I watched it on the 15th, and thought it was amazing, my friend didn't like it, said it was boring and was texting all the way through the film (how annoying!), he's not a massive harry potter fan plus he's not read any of the books.
I think this film is best if yo've read the book, as a lot of the story is left out, it isn't the best film but it's not the worst. Lots of laughs, think this is the funniest film of them all for sure, i'll be seeing it 2 more times in the next week

alc09 24-07-2009 08:13 PM

Anyone else think this was a boring let down?

MarkWaldorf 24-07-2009 08:14 PM

It was kinda of boring the second time I saw it, but I still enjoyed it. I thought Daniel was a lot more confident in this movie. His acting was much better.

bronaaaa 24-07-2009 08:14 PM

^ Not at all, it was my favourite of the HP films

Ninastar 24-07-2009 08:15 PM

i liked it but it wasnt as good as i thought it ould be. but the more i think about it the more i wanna see it again
