Not offering van persie a new contract as of yet because hes asked for more money ...

They should he still wants far less than other premiership players...

30stone 28-05-2009 04:35 PM

If Adebayor is to leave, who should Arsenal Sign?

1. David Villa, Valencia, 16 million-27 million
2. Bafétimbi Gomis, AS Saint-Étienne, eight million-16 million
3. Carlos Tevez, Manchester United, 25 million-35 million
4. Obafemi Martins, Newcastle United, seven million-12 million
5. Xisco, Newcastle United, six million-11 million
6. Tuncay Şanli, Middlesbrough, five million-10 million
7. Hatem Ben Arfa, Olympique Marseille, seven million-14 million
8. Sebastian Giovinco, Juventus, 10 million-17 million
9. Jirès Kembo Ekoko, Stade Rennais, three million-nine million
10. Marouane Chamakh, Bordeaux, five million-12 million

David Villa would get my vote, some i havent even heard of and some just aren't good enough to play for Arsenal.

Tevez would be okay, but nah hes not as good as villa and villa is cheaper.

Robin van Persie is prepared to leave Arsenal - if they fail to match his contract ambitions.

The Dutchman is in talks to extend his contract, but clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in talking with his Agent.

A deal worth a reported £80,000 a week is on the table but the striker insists money is not an issue.

"Financially Arsenal's last offer is fine, but that isn't everything for me. It's about my ambitions and how they can be fulfilled," he told Uefa's Champions Magazine.

"In the last five years I've only won one prize, the FA Cup, and that is too little. I want to push through to achieve more, and if another club is where I will achieve my ambitions then so be it." he said.

Van Persie, who came on as a late substitute in that 2005 FA Cup win over Manchester United, has reportedly been stalling over a new deal. Liverpool and Chelsea have recently been liked with a move for the striker.

"We have all the other factors in place - fantastic stadium, dedicated support and money in the bank.

"Now it's about making that final push. I certainly feel I can play an important role in taking Arsenal to a higher level, but interest from other high profile clubs does seem very tempting at the moment," he said.

Striker Fernando Torres has signed a contract extension to remain at Liverpool until at least 2013.

The 25-year-old has been a huge success since joining from Atletico Madrid two years ago and scored his 50th goal for the Reds on Sunday against Tottenham.

The Spanish international still had four years remaining on his original six-year contract.

But Liverpool have offered him improved terms and added an option to take the deal through to 2014.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez said: "Fernando is one of the best strikers in the game today and, at his age, can only get better.

"Every major side would want him in their team, but he has shown how much he wants to achieve success at Liverpool by committing his future to the club.

Great news, now to work on getting in a strike partner/back-up!

"He's a special talent but still has the hunger to improve his game."

Benitez is looking to secure the futures of his key players after watching them push Manchester United all the way in the title race this season before settling for second place.

Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger, Steven Gerrard and Benitez himself have already signed new contracts in the last two months.

"We've made huge progress this season and now we need to take the next step," Benitez added on the club's website.

"We are building something special here and securing such important players on long-term deals means we can move forward with confidence.

"This sends out a very positive message to everyone connected with the club."

Locke. 28-05-2009 05:39 PM

He said that before he Liverpool got to his heart. Fernando Torres, Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrrard will be Liverpool players until the day that they retire.
