He really was though. I just said "(or not)" in that post to add some suspense.

Rodney was a thug

JerseyWins 10-01-2018 10:56 PM

He was a momma's boy thug tho :hee:

TomC 10-01-2018 11:07 PM

He is the worst of S30. He's worse than Dan cos Dan was adopted.

Just finished my first watch and kinda wanna re-watch Borneo welp

TomC 13-01-2018 10:11 PM

I'm watching Episode 1 of masterpiece Borneo.

Rich's corporate clash with Redneck Sue  It's this kinda stuff that was so severely missing from some modern seasons.

TomC 13-01-2018 10:26 PM

Treemail <3

Sonja is so cute with her ukelele.

TomC 16-01-2018 09:30 PM

Ahh the tasks in Borneo are amazing. So creative and varied. Like creating a distress signal is such a far cry from anything you get in modern Survivor.

TomC 17-01-2018 08:15 AM

I'm really not that big a fan of Colleen... There's quite an arrogant air about her? And "when Greg and I go off into the woods it's all about sex...it's a really passionate affair" made me cringe.

It's interesting how you notice the little subtle things on a re-watch. I'm seeing the Pagong tribe dynamics so much more clearly this time. Like, Greg, Jenna, Colleen, and to an extent Joel are clearly really tight, and then Gervase and Gretchen are kinda outcasts? I bet the younger ones don't like Gretchen very much lol. Also, I didn't remember Jenna being such a central Pagong character. I think she alone has more than half of the Pagong confessionals, so it makes sense she was broguht back for AS.

Lmao at Richard tormenting the snake.

My favourites are largely the same... still love Sue, Sean and Jenna. I appreciate Kelly more this time. Also RIchard's not bothering me at all this time. Such an iconic character!

Just in case anyone still thinks Jeff Varner isn't a complete piece of **** (the number of people on this forum feeling worse for HIM is still kinda harrowing to me tbh)

TomC 24-01-2018 12:58 PM

I find the videos used in Borneo and other early seasons instead of an actual loved one's visit so much more poignant.

The Jenna thing was horrible, and part of me feels there would have been a way for Jeff to tell her that was less hard. But I guess revealing it at the start would have put a dampener on everyone else.

It's crazy seeing how pioneering Richard, Kelly and Sue were. Richard is a master of understanding people and the wider game, Kelly is just so cutthroat ("if you wanted to make bosom buddies, you should have gone to summer camp"), and Sue is just so cold in her pushing away any ideas of other alliances.

Richard fancying Greg is a scream

TomC 24-01-2018 12:59 PM

Also I ****ing love Sean Kenniff. A top 10 Survivor male for me.

TomC 25-01-2018 10:22 AM

I don't understand why the hell Kelly voted for Sean? Like what was the point in throwing away a vote and jeopardising your alliance's trust for you when you're not actually making a move?

TomC 28-01-2018 04:50 PM

Borneo really confuses me in the sense that Sue and Rich keep saying that Kelly has been plotting with the other side. But they're not mentioning the plainly obvious fact that Kelly didn't vote with them twice? I just don't understand it. The editing is a bit odd sometimes, like we don't know where the Kelly/Sue argument came from.

TomC 30-01-2018 12:33 AM

I hate saying it but Wiglesworth's Borneo game is just awful. Like flipping her vote to Sue is just awful. Well, I mean she should have either voted fo Sue in the first place or forced a tie in an effort to get Rich out.

TomC 30-01-2018 01:52 AM

Ugh Borneo is a true emotional rollercoaster. There's honestly something so rivetting watching the evolution of the game over the course of the season, and how dark it comes. Also, it is probably THE best season for character development. Kelly and Sue's storylines are just spellbinding, and Richard, Sean, Jenna, Colleen, Gervase and plenty of others are crazily watchable.

I literally cried at FTC. Although Borneo does have a few problems (par for course, being the first season and all), there's just something so familiar and comforting about it.

TomC 30-01-2018 01:53 AM

Also my faves of the season have got to be Sean, Kelly (appreciated her WAY more this time), Sue, Jenna (although she turns into a mssive bitch in AS).

TomC 30-01-2018 01:53 AM

I look forward to slowly rewatching AO now!

TomC 30-01-2018 01:55 AM

I also totally forgot how unstraightfoward the Borneo postmerge is? I had it down as a plain 'Pagonging' (I mean it is the namesake and all), but the fracture of the Tagi Four, and the numerous attempts at forming a counter alliance truly keep you percht on the edge of your seat!

TomC 31-01-2018 07:36 PM

I'm embarrassed this is the first I have to say of AO, but Jeff gagging to make Tina fail at the eating challenge was a howl.

Jerri really was such a btich in the beef jerky debacle

TomC 31-01-2018 10:36 PM

Skupin is extremely sinister in AO. Him so desperate to kill a pick just...makes my skin crawl.

TomC 02-02-2018 01:24 AM

Skupin is so filthy/disgusting. Smearing that pig blood on his face :umm2: BURN IN HELL

AO premerge is really good though.

I think what it all comes down to is that Kelly (and Sean) are both huge cowards. Like, Kelly especially resents the alliance by the J for Jenna boot and is hoping for a power shift so her actual friends can stay around, but the problem is that Kelly doesn't want to be at the forefront of it herself because she knows where her bread is buttered and she knows she benefits from the alliance. That's why we get her passively throwing her votes out and wasting them, because it's the biggest form of resistance she can throw out there. The problem is, everyone knows that it's Kelly's weak-willed attempt to break away from the alliance while not actually committing to her Pagong friends and helping them out in any capacity, so she just ends up frustrating both sides.

A perfect summary!

Another question I have that I know Macie will have the answer for is... did Pagong ACTUALLY like Kelly? Colleen was pretty scathing of her in FTC on a personal level and suggested the others felt the same way, and I got the sense Greg wasn't a huge fan while he was around.
