Luton were meant to be interested but we made it clear we wouldnt sell as we had just sold Boyd to Peterboro for £260,000.I wouldnt be suprised if he did move soon though, scores with both feet and his head so not much more you can ask.
Could still make it in the league then. Form Stevenage have shown, could reach playoffs.

Looks like Dag & Red for the league!
Yeah we have really turned it around of late, shame the last 2 results werent better otherwise we'd be in a play-off place. We havent quite sorted out the side since Boyd left, the two players who have been tried upfront have not really made the desired impact and I cannot say it suprises me as both are basically target men and with Morison leading the line so well there's no need for someone else dominant in the air to be there.I don't know why we've brought in Mitchell Cole unless he's going to take Boyd's role as we already have two good left wingers.

I have to say I'm suprised Daggers are where they are, outside bet for the play-offs was all I said before the season but they really work hard as a team and some really talented young players.Would have been interesting had Craig Mackail-Smith gone along with Blackett to Peterborough though as they'd have had to replace both with lower league signings and they may not have worked out.

CMS still may go though from what I have heard, Sunderland rumoured to be interested and he really is a cracking player's, prior to joining Daggers himand Blackett were at a club just up the road from me Arlesey who my PE teacher played for at the same time as them.We had the chance at signing the pair of them but our old manager turned them down, worst piece of judgement from him other than releasing DJ Campbell for nothing.

Feyenoord suffering from the loss of Kuyt and Kalou then, is Dennebom still with them? I'm suprised to see Twente doing so well.
Feyenoord are poor this season  The team I dislike the most :thumbs2:

Denneboom? Never played for Feyenoord, he played for us for 5/6 years - now at NEC

Wonder who you are thinking of :puzzled:

Today we signed Cecilio Lopes, joint top scorer in the division below..........and loaned him out to Sparta Rotterdam

Rob Friend also was loaned out to Heracles

Isn't Mitchell Cole related to Joe Cole.........or Joe's sister is Mitchell's other half or something (and the surname is just coincidence)

Mackail-Smith has now left Daggers  Oxford slipped up again though

 @ releasing DJ Campbell

Ali Boussaboun was who I was thinking of oops.I see they have Pierre Van Hooijdonk, suprised he's still kicking around at one of the big dutch sides.

Talking of Denneboom,he is always good on pro evo lol.

Yeah Mitchell Cole is the partner of Joe Cole's sister, proably got to know her through being at West Ham at the same time as Joe.

Mackail-Smith is meant to have been told he had to go to Peterborough because of pre-contract agreement and Daggers wanted the money in the end.Craig's dad wanted him to go somewhere else after the uncertaintity at Peterboro.

Oxford really do look a poor side at the moment, after that defeat away to Gravesend which ended their unbeaten start to the season they just seem to have plummeted, clearly nobody is really that scared of them and even when they were doing well people were saying they didnt look that great just a solid side who won mainly because of late goals/penalties which all seemed to come through Yemi Odubade. When we played them the defence and midfield was slow and easy to breakthrough and even when we went down to 9 men we still almost won the match.

We also let Sam Sodje go to Margate for peanuts and now he's in the prem.I questioned the release of Campbell and sale of Sodje at the time and looks like I've been proved correct.

Dan_ 31-01-2007 04:14 PM

We have signed Paul Hakim from St.Albans so that is the striker that we needed now for another central midfielder.

BigSister 31-01-2007 04:16 PM

weve got stuart fleetwood on loan from hereford some porteguise defender and some polish un19 goalkeeper from bolton

Mike 31-01-2007 04:19 PM

We just re-signed Nicky Southall from Nottingham Forest which has come as a shock because he has probably been their main player over the last two seasons and also chips in with plenty on goals....................great to have him back.

Red Moon 31-01-2007 04:21 PM

Southend bagged Irish forward Richie Foran from Millwall for £200,000.

And we aren't bottom any more

Thank you Leeds for not scoring as many goals as us lastnight.

Dan_ 31-01-2007 07:27 PM

Good signings there Mike and Becca.Southall is a shock seeing as he was in Forest's side at the weekend and Fleetwood's a very good striker and has been in Hereford's side most of the season.

We have signed Daryl McMahon from Leyton Orient, a central midfielder who played most games last season when they won promotion from league 2 but he's found himself out of the side since october so should be a good signing.

BigSister 31-01-2007 07:28 PM

Yeah i was v surprised by that hes only on loan though for amonth

ITALIAN FIXTURES OFF

All games in Italy have been postponed following a policeman's death at Palermo's Sicilian derby with Catania.

Italy's game with Romania next week has also been postponed by the Italian Football Federation.

The police officer was killed in clashes between both sets of fans outside Stadio Massimino before and after the match.

The dead officer is believed to have been hit in the face by an explosive thrown by some fans.

Italian Federation commissioner Luca Pancalli and sport minister Giovanna Melandri made the decision to call off action over the weekend as a result of the tragedy.

"I have demanded a stop to all activity of football in Italy," Pancalli said in a statement. "Enough is enough.

"It's a situation that I cannot speak of. To lose your life at 38 is incredible. This is not a sport.

"The football tournaments will remain suspended until we solve the violence in our football.

"It's unacceptable that such incidents happen in a country like Italy."

The game itself was marred by crowd trouble with the second half held up for 30 minutes after tear gas was thrown onto the pitch.

Palermo won the game 2-1 with two controversial goals and Catania president Antonio Pulvirenti wants the game replayed and has blamed Palermo fans for the trouble.

"Clearly the incidents were provoked by the Palermo fans when they entered the stadium," said Pulvirenti.

"Before then, nothing had happened, but they started causing trouble and as the images show threw tear gas onto the pitch.

"They were well-organised and came here in order to cause trouble. We feel penalised and will appeal against the result so that the match will be considered void.

"We've been punished for less in the past and demand the same treatment.

"I was on the field and, if you look carefully, the section where the tear gas came from only had Palermo fans in there.

"The officials saw what happened and will take action."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What does everyone think on this? i think the Italian Federation commissioner is right to do what he has done and he is spot on with everything he says, no one should have to lose their life because of football violence but this guy was 38 years old, probably had a wife and kids waiting at home, stronger action needs to start being taken IMO.

Lauren 02-02-2007 11:38 PM

More should be done than just postponing games. The route of the problem should be nipped in the bud.
Thanks for the article.

Tanser_Man 02-02-2007 11:52 PM

Italian football is a farce, Hooligans, bungs, match fixing... could it possibly get any worse for them!

Anyway, Aston Villa vs West Ham tomorrow. The real Claret n Blue army against the light blue and pink brigade!

Could be a goal feat!

Maloney to start? Can't wait! I'll be there at a full house Villa Park!

Dan_ 03-02-2007 12:59 AM

They may well end up playing infront of no crowd if they dont control the stuff happening over there.Racisim is also an issue in Italian football .

Dan_ 03-02-2007 04:30 PM

I hate refs .1-0 up away to Morecambe in the trophy after another goal from Morison on the stroke at half time and our whole team worked hard but a penalty was scored on 94 minutes, very harsh.

Tanser_Man 03-02-2007 06:21 PM

Carew on his home debut, great atmosphere nearly a sell out!

Ashley Yound looks immense, he reminds me of Ian Wright, Pace... a thunderous shot and small/weedy.

Siouxsie 03-02-2007 08:29 PM

we won today hawaythe lads 2 nil against coventry:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance: :dance:

Mitchell looked half decent when in League 1

Didn't CMS go to Darlington or someone?

Still, it's D&R or Oxford it seems.

Oxford were okay at beginning of season......Duffy was it scoring loads of pens?

So basically, anyone released by Stevenage, should be snapped up, as they are Prem bound

Italian football is a complete shambles.

All grounds should be shut for the rest of the season at least

InTheHood 05-02-2007 10:20 PM

Drew 1-1 @ Groningen on Friday, not a bad result as Groningen are decent.

Afonso scored, again.

New signing Cecilio Lopes, who we farmed out on loan the same day we signed him, scored on his Sparta Rotterdam debut

Hooijdonkey must be trying to compete with Sheringham for being the oldest player in a top league.I remember they always used to go on about his free kick skills, conversion rate was low lol.

Mitchell's fitness is not the best at the moment so he's been coming off the bench the last 2 games, looks a pretty good player.

Sod knows what's happening with CMS, his agent and dad wanted a better move for him but he'd already signed for them anyway and now he's saying if they force him to stay he will quit football and work for his dad.Way to wreck someone's career.

Yeah Duffy has scored about 10 penalties lol, he was another one released by us after playing the grand total of 30 mins.

Ryman prem bound alot of them more like lol. Most of the silly releases were down to Wayne Turner and Graham Westley, pair of pillocks.
