After Ukraine's 1991 independence, the Ukrainian government introduced the national rules for transliteration of geographic names into the Latin alphabet for legislative and official acts in October 1995, according to which the Ukrainian name Київ is romanized as Kyiv

Its the ukranian pronunciation rather than the russian version

I guess as it's their country, they can decide how it's pronounced (i think it changed after russia grabbed crimea)

bots 06-03-2022 01:19 PM

europe let hundreds of thousands of refugees in, so i don't think their premise above is true

Around 3,500 anti-war protesters have reportedly been detained across Russia today, according to Russian news agency Interfax citing the interior ministry.

According to the report:

About 2,500 people took part in protests in Moscow on Sunday, of whom 1,700 were detained
A further 1,500 people protested in St. Petersburg, where 750 were subsequently arrested
A total of 1,200 other people took part in protests across other parts of the country, and 1,061 of them were detained
Those who were arrested were taken to local police stations for questioning where "the issue of bringing them to justice is being decided", said an interior ministry spokesperson.

According to human rights website OVD-Info, a total of 10,946 people have been detained at anti-war protests across Russia since Moscow began its invasion of Ukraine.

That brilliant Ukraine guy on Question Time was adamant that his fellow Ukrainians didn’t want to go to to every corner of the globe for safety .. the vast majority wanted to stay as close to home as is possible so they can return to their homes and lives

This news anchorman is inclined to disagree with this US Colonel.

It's obvious the news anchorman is in the right here because he'd know far more about war than a Colonel and he's part of the mainstream media which is the most honest and truthful profession there is. This Colonel is in the wrong because he isn't going along with what the rest of us are saying. So you don't even have to take any notice of him.

Anyway, this Colonel is probably working for Russia, because there is no other reason why he'd say this. Everyone knows that Zelenskyy is a hero, I thought that was common knowledge?

It's better if we just listen to Piers Morgan, Gary Lineker and Jeremy Vine on all of this in the future.

So the Colonel thinks Ukraine should be fine with being told what to do by the leader of another country....and that will settle things down...I see....I suppose Mexico will be dictating to the Whitehouse soon and he won’t have an issue with that either
