Available space is not simply free space. It depends on the category of the prisinor and the availability of suitable prison staff. Therefore it's perfectly possible to make space available if the correct arrangements are made, which is basically what labour have done

Belfast could well be the biggest flashpoint in this whole episode

Are the hundreds of spaces or are the jails crammed.

If they are at dangerous levels then how can there be spaces for the hundreds facing jail ?

…a man has just been jailed for taking a knife to the vigil for the Southport victims…his name is Jordan Davies, he’s 32 years old and he said that he went to join an existing mob there…he describes himself as ‘neither right wing or Muslim’….

…I’m pretty sure that some social media, said that the initial violence and attack on a mosque at Southport happened because a Muslim man came to the vigil with a knife…but he wasn’t Muslim, I’m presuming this was the man because it’s the arrest and conviction that fits that…more violent actions and escalations based on unverified and false social media posting…

I was taking things on face value

I heard the warnings last week that jails were dangerously overcrowded and they were considering releasing hundreds early .. then today I heard on the news they suddenly had spaces for all those arrested ..
