It's not so easy for russia to censor the news

arista 07-03-2022 06:21 AM

[They fired up to 1,000 bullets - thank God the one that
hit me missed my vital organs:
Sky News reporter STUART RAMSAY's terrifying account
of being shot in ambush by Russian hit squad
as he covers war in Ukraine]

[They had AK-47s and such good cover
that we never actually saw them,
maybe 100 yards away.
Wave after wave of bullets smashed
into the car — and fragments of the windscreen,
chunks of the steering wheel
and bits of the dashboard flew
into the swirling vortex of chaos around us.
The fizzing and cracking noise was appalling.
It was like being trapped in a washing machine,
such was the sense of disorientation as
the car rocked under the assault.
There were five of us in a bog-standard
Hyundai saloon rental car,

on assignment about 20 miles west of Kyiv
last Monday.
I was in the rear left seat,
with my South African-born producer
Dominique van Heerden in the middle, next to me.
She is small of stature, but tough and cool,
and the best producer I have ever worked with.]

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...al-organs.html

[It was clear almost immediately that this was no mix-up,
but a professional ambush.
]

Lucky those Russian Snipers
did not kill any of that team.

Lesia Vasylenko
Ukrainian MP in Kyiv

Live on GMBHD itv
after 7AM.
Was challenged by Richard Madley

Can she shoot to kill?

She has a MK47
and then she showed a Hand Gun
on her Computer table.
The Hand Gun goes with her into the Toilet with her

She said the Russia Troops are not taking Prisoners
they break into a home
shoot all in it.

Her 3 children were sent across the
Border for safety

Good Luck to her.

The safety corridors russia is proposing takes refugees to either belarus or russia. That is so cynical. Who would go to the enemy

No. I'm wondering why that news interviewer didn't ask this Colonel for the reason he says Zelenskyy is a puppet. It seemed like such an obvious question to ask him after what he said.

For once I don't totally disagree with Alf. What's happening in Ukraine is a humanitarian tragedy for the people just trying to live there, for the people or Russia as well in fact, potentially for a lot more people too, but politically..? Yes I think we're in the midst of the biggest propaganda campaign of living memory. The things that are in the mainstream media - here in Europe, in the US, in Russia, everywhere - are absolute ****ing nonsense that have little basis in political reality of any kind. It's also abundantly clear that this narrative has been brewing for YEARS and spanned, at the very least, most if not all of Trump's 4 years. I think there was quite a clear "plan". Actually I think the only part of the "plan" that has gone wrong, is that Trump was "supposed to" secure a 2nd term, and if he had, the Ukraine situation would already be over.

To take an even deeper dive - I think there probably was voting irregularity in the US election. I think there probably was something off going on with postal voting. But I now think that was to counter Russian interference that was supposed to guarantee a Trump landslide. I think had Trump still been in the Whitehouse, Ukraine would have been given to Russia on a platter, or still self-governing but set up as a guaranteed neutral DMZ, with barely a bullet fired.

Some very worrying pieces of the last 5 years of politics are starting to make much more sense.

i think that's a vast over dramatisation.

Putin has had a strategy for years, long before trump appeared. Nato thought they could do no wrong and so pushed their advantage as much as they could. That's why we are where we are.

The balance went off when ukraine got rid of the russian puppet president.

The west have made this war bigger than it should have been by training and arming the ukraine army. We still pretend we are not at war with russia, but we quite clearly are. Warfare takes many guises.

The best outcome now would be for the war in ukraine to change to an insurgency quickly. This would give things a chance to settle down again. If they don't, its just going to escalate further and further until the nukes start flying

Well yes but that's sort of my point, Russia has been nudging western politics for years, Russia and Ukraine have been mentioned on and off in relation to "murky" political events for years, that have never been adequately explained. Obviously I know it predates Trump's presidency; Russia helped to nudge that over the line in the first place.

Kizzy 07-03-2022 11:30 AM

Our politics are corrupt, no two ways about it. Look at the demonisation of the left, who had a hand in there? Israel.

Are we going to continue pretend that what happened to Palestine wasn't the same as this? The only difference being we were on the side of the agressor.

And before I'm accused of antisemitism remember Palestinians are Semites too.

arista 07-03-2022 12:22 PM

"Are we going to continue pretend that what happened to Palestine wasn't the same as this?"

Sure
Not the same, though.

This conflict Russia invading Ukraine
has made the world markets
go up in Oil and Gas.
And Wheat.

Once Russia has total Control of Ukraine
it can change back a bit.

UserSince2005 07-03-2022 12:33 PM

Palestine are terrorists.
Ukrainians are heros.
Thats the difference.

Interesting "solution" to this crisis is given here by Yanis Varoufakis from 2.20

bots 07-03-2022 01:06 PM

none of us know what the ukrainian president is like. All we can do is judge by how he has led his country in this war. My opinion is that he has shown great bravery, he knows he will be shot if the russians capture him and he has been an inspiration to the people he represents
