I am so relieved that Kevin won. If he takes the season it will be epic and the final HoH comps play to his strengths.

No matter what the first two comps Kevin and Demetres will win them against Karen. Every season so far the final comp has been questions about the jury members or events they participated in. Demetres has been studying too but I think Kevin has the edge.

I'm gonna miss Ika Wong :(

That Kevin Martin was preparing even before the season started. :clap1:

I LOVE that Kevin Martin. He gets a bad rap but he is a sweetheart. He was honest with William because he didn't want him to get hurt and after Karen handed out the punishments he hugged her and told her it was okay. When Ika ripped into him he kept his cool and just ended the veto ceremony even though she was completely out of line.

I love watching him winning. He's like Trudeau in his boxing match against Brazeau. The second picture explains why Brazeau was the favorite to win by far. He has a black belt in something.

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/ca...h-for-the-ages

Until I read the article I didn't know about this:

“I can imagine (the third round) is going to go worse than the second round for Brazeau. When you’ve got lots of muscles, a minute is not enough to recover and get enough oxygen.

Demetres has strength but Kevin has stamina and agility.

That won't really matter for the final HoH competitions. Kevin and Demetres will win the first two competitions against Karen so they will face off in the last round which will be questions about the jury.

JerseyWins 14-05-2017 04:42 PM

^ Completely agree :clap1:

When it's a competition about facts/events that have happened within the house then it clearly ISN'T a 'crapshoot'.

Cal. 14-05-2017 06:10 PM

Ugh he's such a Dan Gheesling wannabee

Macie Lightfoot 14-05-2017 06:24 PM

and why would anyone want to be Dan Gheesling

No it's usually quotes about jurors so you can't study that

Name one successful thing Kevin did in the game that didn't involve winning a comp/being saved by someone else?

I'll wait!

All season all hes done is 'ruin'/make his chances of winning MORE DIFFICULT.
His game itself has had such a negative effect on everything.

Evicting Jackie over the house full of threats
Evictign Dillon over someone who has won 7 comps..
Keeping a power couple in...
Keeping Dillon [the next best comp threat] over Dre, when he knew it was all vs him [he could have got Ika to keep Dre easily]

Preventing Sindy from backdooring Neda

He has made his journey so hard, because hes played such a bad game bar competitions.

It's a shame that hes likely to win, and beat Demetres, when Demetres and Ika have single handedly controlled every single eviction until final 4 [It was their votes that did actually send Dallas/Mark/Gary home, they had sway to change it, they've literally decided every eviction bar Emily's.

They wouldn't which is what makes him ten times worse.

Sat back and let all his jury votes get voted out, voted out Ika, drag goat Karen to final 2 and win 8-1 (Dillon being a pathetic bitter twat)

DouglasS 14-05-2017 08:53 PM

I'm sorry I can't buy that Kevin is a good player.
I can understand Neda was in BBCAN2 [ew]

Cal. 14-05-2017 10:17 PM

Oh are we giving him credit for finally getting rid of Ika (when he has no other option) when he's had two previous HOH's to do so?

That's a good thing! Kevin has actually played a really good game and stuck to exactly how he planned to play the game, like in that video.

Kevin would definitely be my second favorite ever male winner globally of Big Brother, after Dan Gheesling, the greatest of all time :clap1:

He kept her around as a good move, Karen is just too bitter and preferred to mess up her own game instead of playing strategically imo, either way I liked his creative logic behind saving ika. Kevin is my dude!! TEAM KEVIN MARTIN ALL THE WAY! :D The BBCAN3 family :blush2:

He didn't keep her around - he essentially kept Demetres around by mistake [as Dem has won 7 competitions and was Kevin's only threat to win to the end, and he failed], if he wanted to make a good move he'd have put up Karen next to Demetres.

There was literally no logic, it was failed logic. His move wasn't to save Ika, it was a move to 'ensure Demetres would be evicted' - which failed.

It's been said on one of the talk shows his weakness is that he expects people to behave logically and in their best interests. He and Neda discussed their preference for logical players. I agree he should have put Karen up but it is reasonable to think that Karen would not screw over her own game just because she hates him that much. Karen is going to win 20K because Kevin saved himself and got rid of Ika.

I agree that his social game is poor. Because of that he has had to win five competitions back to back. HoH, Veto, HoH Veto Veto and he has to win the final HoH making it six back to back comps he had to win to save himself. That is a North American record if he pulls it off.

Ika is an amazing social player but she doesn't win comps. She was 100% dependent on Demetres to carry her to the end. People were afraid to go after her because of the wrath of Demetres not the wrath of Ika. Demetres is a great guy, very sociable, if Ika had not been there he would have had to work that more. Demetres did rely on Ika's social game. Ika having Demetres to win comps for her was part of her game. It's why she was able to ditch the six. William was part of Kevin's game. He saved him with the secret veto the same way Demetres saved Ika.

Kevin has played alone. He stayed under the radar for the beginning of the game which was part of his plan including blowing comps to be less of a threat.

You have to be a great player to be able to mess up two HoHs and still get rid of a target by winning a veto next. Everyone is calling Demetres a comp beast but so is Kevin as he has defeated Demetres in mixed mental physical comp. He and Demetres have much respect for one another as competitors.

Competitions are a huge part of BB. It's how you gain direct power. Winning a comp means you are safe. It is a valid way to get to the end and it does mean someone is a great player.

In that video it says that he has studied all the BBCan competitions so he will certainly have seen the pattern that the last comp. is questions about the jury. It can be quotes or it can be events they participated in. For example, Dre had 13 slop cookies in her jar. Kevin knew that. He didn't just remember it by chance. He will have listened carefully to speeches. He got a question right about a speech Dallas made because he remembered that Dallas gave a speech at an unofficial time. That so many of his "friends" are on jury means he knows them well. Demetres rarely spend time apart from Ika. She is the only person he really hung out with.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that Kevin has an edge in the final HoH comp based on knowledge of the jurors and his focus on studying. Maybe if Ika had studied a bit more she wouldn't be in jury. If Demetres had studied more maybe he would have won the veto and sent Kevin home.

I checked all the final HoH comps and they test predictable skills. The first always seems to be some sort of active endurance or a test of stamina using speed and agility for a long time, like repeatedly running up and downstairs.

The second is an oversize puzzle of some sort that you solve with clues about the houseguests or something similar.

The last is questions about the jury. This is a buzzer comp so the faster you know the answer the better.

This is something all the houseguests knew in advance. They all play to their own strengths.

Someone like Karen shouldn't win because she is a goat. She got dragged to the end. She will win because she didn't get her way and get rid of that Kevin Martin. The only reason not to call Ika a goat is that she did play a brilliant strategic game, but even she knew she couldn't win the game without winning a comp.

Kevin is no less deserving than Ika or Demetres. I would even say he is more deserving. He has studied hard with no help from anyone and he worked out. He isn't accidentally fast physically or mentally. Kevin isn't beating Ika because he's a man. He's beating her because he prepared.

JTM45 15-05-2017 04:22 AM

I'm not particularly keen on Kevin as a person but as far as him being a BB housemate, he's the best left in there.
Can you imagine if it ended up with Demetres, Ika and Karen in there ? Wow..........the showmance in one room doing more of the same thing they've been doing all Season, which is very little (apart from when Demetres has had to go and win competitions to keep them both in there) and Karen somewhere else.
There would effectively be no competition left to watch!

No it was to get a big physical threat out (which obviously he much preferred Demetres to go). But I don't think it was too big of a deal really... it sucked that Demetres was still around as a comp threat BUT he would've stayed if he kept Ika on the block next to him anyway. Dillon was the next best move.

I do think he should have put Karen up instead of Dillon but I guess he just thought Karen would never make that move and it's hard to blame him for thinking that. :joker: And in case things did go wrong, he obviously would want Dillon out over Karen if he's taking out comp threats - so again it's hard to blame him for this decision. You just can't predict Karen was going to do that lol.
