Knight Of Cups - 4/10 - New Bale film #1. I remember first hearing about this a few years ago and was really excited for it, my favourite actor, one of my favourite actresses (Natalie Portman), and one of the best Directors around... Then it got hit with loads of delays and I can kind of see why now. It falls short in pretty much all aspects, it feels like it tries to be an art film but just fails. Would like to say that the performances save it but there is no material in there to give a solid acting performance, it's just all very somber. Great cinematography though.

The Big Short - 9/10 - New Bale film #2. This is both his best film and best performance in years, most likely since The Fighter in 2010. Great to see him get an Oscar nomination for it earlier today. Ryan Gosling, Steve Carrel, and Brad Pitt are also in it, and are all really good too, but Bale and Carrel are the two stand outs. Very serious topic but still manages to be funny and also creative at the same time. One of the best films of 2015.

..Clueless..again because it was on TV and always flawless...10/10..

..Princess Diaries...same...

The Revenant - 9/10 - Brilliant performances from Leo, Tom Hardy, and Domnhall Gleeson. You can tell how much effort was put into this film from everybody involved, not just those on screen. I wish the adverts hadn't included so many spoilers, but it was still very enjoyable anyway. I think there should be a couple of films ahead of it in the pecking order come awards season, but it would be really hard to look past Leo for Best Actor after seeing his performance and hearing about the lengths he went through.

Jeepers Creepers - 7/10

Not seen this film, i'll have to watch out for it:)

I watched Betty Blue this morning, the film is a good 3.5 hours long, it's French with English subtitles, i think everyone should watch this at least once in their lifetime.

It's a beautiful film to look at with the scenery and architecture, and what starts off as a passionate love affair ends in tragedy 10/10

(Plus i loved the French stereotypes:hehe:)

The Revenant - it was ok, kinda long though, and I wasn't too keen on the way it was filmed it reminded me of video games in the first person cut scenes :worry: 7/10

500 Days of Summer, I've watched it so many times and I still love it just as much as always.

..Wedding Planner..because it was on TV..it was awful, around 2/10 but you know, Matthew McConaughey/I'm shallow....

Niamh. 25-01-2016 09:29 AM

The Fifth Wave - pretty cheesy, probably the worst of these type films that's come out in the last couple of years (Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner etc) 4/10

rubymoo 25-01-2016 10:51 AM

The Final Destination (my girls both 14 laughed at the horror scenes!) 1/10

It was the one at the car racing track, they now want to watch the others, i'm trying to break them into horrors gently, but i'm not the best person to watch a horror with as i'm very jumpy and hide behind my hands a lot

Oh when you said Final Destination I presumed you meant the first one, that's easily the best one. I like 1,2 and 5 but wasn't too keen on 3 and 4(4 is the one that you watched that they didn't give a number too actually)

Yeah they didn't give it a number, i think it's just The Final Destination, i thought it was a good introduction to horror for them, i've recorded "I know what you did last Summer" and "Scary Movie" for them too, i can see they're going to love horrors!

I can see OH watching them kind of horrors!

I watched The Woman in Black and it played on my mind for days, and that's only a 12!

I blame my mum for making me watch Alien when i was about 10, i couldn't sleep for weeks after watching it

It's embarrassing when i sit there and i jump and my daughter looks at me and goes "mum....really!?!"

I've heard loads of people say The Ring is scary and The Grudge, but i can't bring myself to watch them.

I watched Watcher in the Woods as a kid and it petrified me (and i'm sure this is a PG!)

The Revenant. This was amazing and i really enjoyed it very much. Gorgeous cinematography, interesting story and beautifully acted. Loved Tom Hardy and i really hope Leo gets the Oscar for this. Because he was incredible! 10/10
