Very similar rankings between now and September 2016. The only big change is that i just didn't care for Christy much this time? And I think she was oen of my favourite things about Amazon on first watch so that's a change.

TomC 06-01-2019 05:43 PM

i might watch pearl islands next

I mean I never finished AO and Africa but honestly their endgames are both pretty dull lol.

Macie Lightfoot 06-01-2019 06:03 PM

Jesus 19 is sooooooo low for Amazon. It's really the BBUK6 equivalent and the cast is SO charmingly sleazy, and the show doesn't try to hide it at all. Everyone is so petty and deranged and cutthroat and their conflict resolution skills are largely HORRIBLE  Everyone plays their part: Christy's the self-righteous victim, Joanna's the absurd religious freak, Jenna's the vapid sorority girl, Heidi's the dumb blonde, Shawna's the weakling who isn't even remotely cut out for Survivor, Denna's the power-hungry butch misandrist, Dave's the dumb rocket scientist, Roger's the curmudgeon old man, Matthew's the future serial killer, Rob is the dorky home-dweller, etc. It's the gift that keeps on giving <3

TomC 06-01-2019 06:25 PM

I totally get what ur saying and honestly I wanted t like it bc of what you’ve said but I just find the cast pretty unlike able :worry:

Well, I've just stopped caring about you!

I stopped caring about you when you enjoyed GI and still haven’t watched DvG!

It was actually like digging for gold with a spoon but you might find bits and pieces eventually. I've watched the first two episodes of DvG but felt like I needed more of a break between binging on two seasons of Survivor, lmao.

On the fourth episode of Cook Islands, and Aitu saving the bird's nest. I usually wait until after I've watched a season to post here so I don't get spoiled but I had to say that's probably one of my favourite scenes of the entire show.

I'm actually really enjoying this season and I adore this cast, more than any season I've watched thus far - not sure what the general perception is but I think it'll definitely be up there for me once I've seen the whole thing.

Macie Lightfoot 06-01-2019 08:06 PM

Cook Islands is...... not very good at all lol.

Yeah CI is not popular and rightly so IMO. It’s deffo in the bottom 3 of the first 13 seasons for me.

Who are your faves?

Oh dear.

Becky, Yul, Jonathan, Nate & Rebecca stand out for me at the moment.

Tbf I liked most of those too... Rebecca is totally unmemorable for me

Half the problem w me for CI is that... does anyone else in the cast inspire any emotion in you, positive or negative?

It surprises me it’s the cast that you’re praising CI for  I don’t wish to rain on your parade though!

TomC 06-01-2019 09:26 PM

i'm only 2 mins into PI and this season is just so effortlessly iconic

TomC 06-01-2019 09:31 PM

wait fairplay is an 'art consultant'? lol it's incredibly hard to imagine him having a job

TomC 06-01-2019 09:33 PM

the PI male cast is definitely the tidiest of any survivor season.

i would **** all of them apart from rupert and fairplay

TomC 06-01-2019 09:37 PM

rupert giving away the morgan tribes' shoes in exchange for camp items is a scream

It's definitely a lot tamer than previous seasons, I can't see much happening in the way of drama/power switches - and if every season was like this I'd think the show was utterly boring - but it's quite refreshing to have a 100% likeable cast? I don't know, my opinion may change as the season goes on but as it stands, I'm feeling fairly positive.

Edit: Oh I meant Sundra, not Rebecca.

mess i couldn't tell the difference between them for the first few eps :skull:

but yeah i think sundra > rebecca, but both are extremely forgettable

I ****ing hate Andrew Savage but I'll give him credit for 10 year old Troy's sexual awakening and kickstarting my Thing for daddies.

the fact he still had it 24 seasons later

JerseyWins 06-01-2019 10:53 PM

1) Yeah Cook Islands is one of the most boring seasons :joker: Way too much filler in the cast, and a few annoyances.

2) I can't @ Andrew Savage

Macie Lightfoot 07-01-2019 03:10 AM

Benry's boot episode of Nicaragua was watchable but nothing special. A bit too strategy-driven for me and there weren't really any character moments that made it worthwhile, it was just all about both alliances fighting for Sash even though they don't trust him anyway  Here are my things of note

-Chase continues to be a bumbling idiot in the best way. He made an unnecessary promise to Sash that he'll bring him on a Reward, and then immediately breaks it by bringing Jane instead? He came to immediately regret it since he left Sash behind with Benry, Jud, and Dan, the exact alliance that is trying to stake claim to Sash
-When Chase tried to smooth things over with Sash after the Reward, Sash was soooooo insincere about how it was all okay, only to immediately ask Chase to swear on his mother and on his dead father to take him to the F3 or F2 :skull: thankfully Chase was just like "uh no I'm not swearing on my dad." Sash was equally insincere with Jane right before TC, repeatedly calling her his second mother and saying that he could never betray his mother or his second mother. I wish that Sash just had a more well-crafted edit because he could really be a worthwhile character. He's so earnestly smarmy and everything he says just DRIPS of insincerity and it's hilariously unsettling. I could imagine what it would be like to take a walk with Sash to the watering hole and have him transparently talk strategy at you, and then wink at you while smiling like the Cheshire Cat. It's so off-putting through television and I imagine it's even worse in real life.
-In the latest of Jane's lovable hypocrisies, she came back from Reward SOBBING when she found out that the dudes killed Kelly-Nay the chicken and then proceeded to hold a funeral with a gravesite and cross akin to Jane's pet cemetery in Thailand. This is amusing when you remember how irate Jane was when losing the last Reward Challenge. Someone, I think Sash?, asked if they should ask the winning team if they could eat a chicken that night and Jane just angrily grunts "WHO CARES?!?!?! THEY'RE EATING TONIGHT ANYWAY!!!!!!!!"

Edit: WAIT this Jane thing is even more hilarious because the secret scene for the episode is her stealing one of Kelly-Nay's eggs in the middle of the night and attempting to cook it. She justifies it by asserting that she feeds the chicken part of her rice and she's the only person who feeds the chicken, so therefore Jane is entirely responsible for the chicken laying eggs and thus she is entitled to eating an entire egg all for herself. Benry woke up in the middle of the night and did his best Sherlock Holmes to find out what Jane was up to but couldn't quite get his finger on the pulse :joker:

TomC 07-01-2019 08:38 AM

Sandra was ****ing hilarious taking Morgan's tarp  Savage is already such a douche, and Osten was a bit of a jerk in Episode 1, as Nicole said, so it's fun seeing them suffer. Osten has already mentioned he wants to quit... and people on Reddit make excuses for him, saying he had a staph infection but like, it's only Day 4 lol.

I loved Jane on my Nicaragua first watch, but like she seems like a total hag based on stories I've heard about her, and subtle stuff like this.

Also, I do remember she was a complete cow to Marty, but I kinda ignored that at the time.

JerseyWins 07-01-2019 05:22 PM

Jane was absolutely hilarious but yeah she did have some annoyances & hypocrisies & stuff like that which stopped me from full-on LOVING her. Quality Survivor character nonetheless
