..I don't think it will be a full recovery in him being able to do everything exactly as he did before but I know someone who fell off his bike and had a serious head injury and was in an induced coma for several months and he's now working again, even though it's not in the same type of job but he has a good life and is happy/getting married soon..Michael is a fighter and that's what will help him with this...

Doesn't sound good, does it? :(

Iceman 21-01-2014 07:57 PM

Im not wishing him dead. If circumstances are as they are reported then thats what I meant. Sorry if that sounded wrong.

..I know how you meant it, Eoin.....it's easy to think that how he is now is what he will be but he may still make a recovery and be able to do lots of things...keep the faith, which I know you will....

There has been no mention of improvement. The omitting of critical has been based on opinion.

AnnieK 21-01-2014 08:18 PM

Come on Schumi...although it looks bleak, miracles in modern medicine can happen

Jean-Marc Orgogozo, Professor of Neurology at the University of Bordeaux, said: ”Every day, every week in a coma the chances decline the situation is improving.”

Me too livia. And you know when they say he 'people have the best doctors money can buy' well he literally does so thats something I suppose

And his body would have been so fit at the time of the accident, it would give him the best possible chance. There is hope.

Is that not mistranslation though. "The chances decline the situation is improving" seems contradictory or am I reading it wrong?

full stop after decline!. the situation is improving.

most of what's being said is just speculation by a web site!

his doctors have not made a statement nor has his family to say he is going to be a vegetable.

Ah right...sorry, there wasn't a full stop in your post so I did read it wrong. As livia has said, hopefully his physical fitness will stand him in good stead.

to be fair there is not a full stop in the article, but its just the web site throwing around the words vegetative state.

Well, if it's not come from the medical team or family, hopefully it's just scare mongering / worst case scenario

MTVN 21-01-2014 08:50 PM

That quote sounds pessimistic to me; "“Every day, every week in a coma the chances decline that the situation is improving.”

He's saying that the longer he is in a coma it is less likely that he is getting better?

jackc1806 21-01-2014 08:57 PM

I seriously hope he does better! The quote doesn't give a great impression though :(

Iceman 21-01-2014 08:58 PM

Yeah MTVN. ive only updated what I ua ually do every few days. .. gave an opinion on whata presented. ..this thread has been ure speculation from the off...and again to clarify I dont want him dead at all.

I don't think anyone would think that but if it's a choice between a permanent vegetative state or not, I think most people would feel the same. That is no life for anyone and his families suffering would be endless

but like me adding the full stop you added [that].
I will wait until there is no hope before I give up all hope!, and that goes for everything in life not just Michael's situation.

we all know you don't want him dead, I like hard facts, not a web site chewing the fat.
