Loved this one.

We're finally getting some "Straight to the point, tell a self contained story" episodes rather than the overblown/trying to be too clever stuff.

Felt weird being set on modern day Earth though. Like an RTD episode almost.

Just watched it. Another excellent episode. This is now confirmed as my favourite season and favourite doctor :flutter:

I don't recognise him.

I wonder if he's done a lot of voiceovers.

armand.kay 19-10-2014 11:29 PM

This season of who is perf tbh <3
Agreeing with marsh I'm loving the linear, straight forward story telling a massive inprovement from and last two seasons and the Christmas episode (still not over it -_-).
I'm also liking that we get to see allot more interaction with the doctor and Clara, we are seing their story develop and it feeling like we are watching their story, we haven't really seen this since rose and ten.

Finale next week!

Tom4784 26-10-2014 02:38 PM

I thought the episode was okay, interesting premise but it was let down by annoying child actors and a really pointless subplot. Looking forward to next week's though.

The two parter finale looks awesome, I just hope hope hope it's nothing like S6's finale.

Cringe at the thought of Series 6's finale. This one looks promising though.

Jarrod 26-10-2014 04:49 PM

5.03m (21.6%) watched In The Forest of the Night.

Marsh. 28-10-2014 02:26 PM

Great premise but not really lived up to its potential. I find Clara and Danny's relationship issues too dull.

The finale episodes look great. I'm guessing the major spoilers they've put in the trailers are just misdirection.

he is the King of voiceovers

Marsh. 28-10-2014 02:31 PM

Good to know.

Jamesy 28-10-2014 02:50 PM

I find the whole Clara and Danny thing rather... pointless. So far it seems like he's a side story so they can let Clara leave with no hard drama.

Maybe there will be a scenario like the whole "impossible girl" arc in series 7 and we find out his whole story in the finale. So far it just seems all too familiar with the whole Amy and Rory balancing out Doctor life vs real life. This is pretty much a copycat of the same thing although we see the people on the life side that get affected by it. Not exactly compelling TV.

I didn't mind last Saturday's episode. It wasn't great, but it was a good light hearted episode before the two final episodes. Don't really get all the hate against the child actors, they're children at the end of the day and the main leading child (forgot her name) was decent enough. Sure the acting was off but it wasn't a major episode so I didn't find that much of a problem myself.

Firewire 31-10-2014 03:54 PM

I think Missy is...

Spoiler:

Another version of Clara

Scarlett. 01-11-2014 11:16 PM

Holy ****ing ****.

Rob! 01-11-2014 11:18 PM

Please don't cremate me...Jesus that's dark.

Marsh. 02-11-2014 02:31 PM

I was a bit letdown tbh.

The Missy stuff was ok but overall the episode seemed a bit run of the mill.

Jamesy 02-11-2014 03:07 PM

Yeah the episode seemed more of a build up so wasn't that incredible.

Good episode on the whole though. Can't say I cared much about Danny throughout it and with everything happening to him. He just doesn't stand out to me and hasn't been around long enough on screen to show the great connection him and Clara have.

I found Clara really out of character..
Spoiler:

...throwing the TARDIS keys away. It just seemed very off and not Clara. I felt like her character was thrown in the bin just in favour of a dramatic scene.

Regarding Missy (spoilers obviously):
Spoiler:

The twist of her being The Master is interesting. Although I'm not going to get too hooked on the idea until next weeks episode. If she is really The Master though, why did she kiss the Doctor like that? It seemed like a forced thing Moffat does with these female characters. On the whole I felt her acting like that was pretty unnecessary and didn't add anything. If she was River that would have meant something... The Master/Mistress though? Just plain weird.

and they could have easily made Missy be...
Spoiler:

The Rani.

They managed to introduce The Master during the RTD era, why not introduce The Rani now? Missed opportunity.

Marsh. 02-11-2014 03:28 PM

Yeah, I'm a bit sick of all the mysterious females locking lips with the Doctor. It's such a cliche now.

Shaun 04-11-2014 04:44 AM

binge-watched the last two episodes, since I missed the first one, last night

one with the forest was ****ing terrible good bye

this week's was perfect <3 <3 <3 (except for the Moffat tropes - impossibly sassy and cheery British villains, a mysterious woman who gets a bit kissy)

but idc michelle gomez > life

Tom4784 04-11-2014 09:03 AM

The last episode was amazing, totally here for the Mistress and I hope they don't kill her off at the end of next week's episode since Michelle Gomez is amazing and I want her to return eventually.

Scarlett. 04-11-2014 10:57 AM

It's crazy how well she did The Master's characteristics, when you watch it again, there's certain things she does that make you think of the John Simm's Master

Shaun 04-11-2014 10:59 AM

I've been waiting years for Michelle Gomez to be amazing in something big again after Green Wing (we don't talk about Bad Education) :flutter:
