Yeah, it was fantastic!

She really cut her down to size! Didn't pull any punches did she? Selfish, giving businesswomen a bad name and just generally untrustworthy - you go girl!

I'm not sure, I'm afraid!

I'll have a bit of a root around! It's worth watching if there is a repeat - definitely the best 'You're Fired!'. :spin:

Sir Alan accused of sexism towards Apprentice villain Katie

Sir Alan accused of sexism towards Apprentice villain Katie

The BBC's reality show The Apprentice is embroiled in yet another controversy – this time, it’s Sir Alan Sugar who is in the line of fire.

The business tycoon has been criticized for questioning Apprentice contestant Katie Hopkins about her children and family arrangements – a move some groups warn could be a violation of sex discrimination laws.

Hopkins, the power-dressing villainess in the series, was told she was through to next week's final, only to quit a few moments later.

Earlier, Sugar asked Hopkins, a 31-year-old mother of two, about relocating her children from Devon to London.

He said: “Exeter, Devon, two little kids. How’s life going to be if I say to you, ‘Katie, right, you’re down in London. You’ve got to move your family, move your location.”

Hopkins said her parents may consider also making the move, to which Sugar replied, “I’m worried here.”

After Sir Alan had fired Tre, he noticed Katie's glum expression. He said: "You don't look like a lady who's just been told you've entered the final. Everyone would appreciate it if you spoke up."

She shocked him by saying: "I'm making a decision without having the courtesy to speak to the people who care for my children. It's a risk, it's a discourtesy to my parents."

A furious Sir Alan snapped back: "I haven't got time to wait for you to make a phone call."

After a dramatic pause, Katie said: "I don't want to make a fool of you or me. I think it's more important to get the courtesy to have my plans in place, so I'll have to stand down."

Apprentice contestant Kristina Grimes, who is now in the final, was also quizzed about her family commitments.

TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber told The Independent: "The Apprentice is just a show but had last night been a genuine interview, Kristina and Katie could have had real grounds for complaint against Sir Alan.

He added: "Any employer who asks only the female candidates about how their children and personal circumstances may affect their ability to do a job could find themselves in hot water."

Liberal Democrat women’s spokesperson Lorely Burt told the paper: “This is a classic example of the kind of casual discrimination still faced by working women every day."

A spokesperson from the program denied Sugar’s behaviour was sexist, but rather a move to test the their level of commitment, telling The Independent: "As part of the interview process, Sir Alan and his colleagues interrogated all of the candidates about their commitment to the process and the job. He wanted to put them under pressure to be able to be fully confident that they were serious about the opportunity he was offering them.

"Sir Alan was intent on ensuring that he did not take on an apprentice who later pulled out due to lack of commitment. Some of the candidates - including Simon Ambrose - were therefore asked about their living and family arrangements, as it is essential to Sir Alan that his apprentice is close on hand and can be available at any time of day or night if necessary."

In a separate controversy, conspiracy theorists on the internet have accused the BBC of rigging the programme and demanded that the full tapes be handed over under Freedom of Information laws.

They are suspicious that Ms Hopkins, 31, capitulated quite so readily under probing from Sir Alan Sugar, the millionaire businessman who each series hands out a £100,000 job to the winner. Ms Hopkins's decision to quit leaves Kristina Grimes, the favourite, and Simon Ambrose to battle it out in next week's final.

One internet blogger said today: "The Katie walk-out didn't convince me at all. It was horribly staged and edited.”

Another wrote: "There was something fishy going on with the editing there, unless 'SurAlan' [Sir Alan] is a closet medium and just knew Katie would change her mind."

Several dissatisfied viewers suggested Ms Hopkins pulled out at a later stage, forcing scenes to be re-shot. One blogger wrote: "There was clever editing because Katie's cheeks were different shades of red each time the camera cut to her."

Paul Callaghan, a contestant who had a brief affair with Ms Hopkins said: "They can take up to 12 hours to shoot the boardroom scene. Loads of it is redone. You're often taken outside and told what to say before going back in."

It has been suggested Ms Hopkins, who earns £90,000 a year as a brands consultant, is more interested in fame than a job. It is understood she is offering to sell her story for £30,000 and has already hired the PR agency that looks after Robbie Williams.

Sir Alan said of Ms Hopkins: "It's clear she was there to win and show how clever she was but not for the actual job. I had doubts about her a few times in the past weeks."

The BBC was unavailable for comment.

Afterwards reports say the unpopular contestant who has had affairs with three married men said: "This is one of the first times in my life probably that I've ever said no to a man."

Fellow contestants Simon Ambrose and Kristina Grimes will now battle it out for a £100,000 job with Sir Alan.

In a pre-recorded interview with radio station Heart FM Katie said of the final two contestants: "I'd like to smash a glass ceiling over Kristina. It's got to be Simon that wins."

In the show she bragged about her "ruthless streak" and when asked: "Have you ever lied or cheated to get what you want?" She replied: "Yes, to get someone else's husband because I wanted him."

Katie was photographed last week allegedly romping in a field with a married colleague, Mark Cross - although some said the photos were not as "snatched" as they appeared.

Her shock decision means next week's final will be a head-to-head between Simon, 27, a Cambridge graduate and Internet entrepreneur from London, and Kristina, 36, a single mother and pharmaceutical manager originally from Wicklow, Ireland.

The winner will be revealed on BBC1 next Wednesday.

I think Kristina will win. Mind you I thought Ruth would win last year.
Totally agree, glad to watch Katie walk out that door. I did a little dance:blush2: >> :dance2:

I hope Kristina wins, she's done so well.. can't wait to watch the final.

I can't really see Simon Winning over Kristina. If Katie was still there Simon would have been fired for sure. And we would have been left with the battle royal.

I\'m 10 out of 10 in Bed

Quote:

I'm 10 out of 10 in Bed

APPRENTICE superbitch Katie Hopkins has sensationally revealed the astonishing truth about her man-eating love life.

In her first exclusive in-depth interview, the tough blonde who dramatically turned the tables on Sir Alan Sugar by firing HERSELF from a place in the show's final, boasted:

"I've had TEN lovers. I'm a passionate person and I'm athletic — I'm voracious in the boardroom AND the bedroom. How would I rate myself in bed? Ten out of ten, of course!"

Ruthless go-getter Katie, 32, then confessed having no guilt over:
  • LOSING her virginity at 17 after leaving convent school,
  • REVELLING in illicit flings with THREE married men, and
  • ROMPING with a secret Army lover in the barracks at Sandhurst Military Academy.
And the single mum of two revealed the truth behind a set of steamy pictures that surfaced two weeks ago, showing her naked and cavorting in a Devon cornfield with latest married conquest, Met Office work colleague Mark Cross.

Scandal

Katie admitted they WERE having sex after a fews drinks in the pub but denied it was a publicity stunt fixed for the camera.

"Screw it, I'm not going to apologise," she insisted. "Yes we were making love. It's obvious from the pictures what we were doing.

"Mark had the benefit of seeing the full Katie Hopkins out on show.

"I promise you we had no idea the photographer was there. I was away from the Apprentice house, I was away from London, back at home in my personal space, enjoying my personal time. I just didn't expect anything like this.

"It wasn't staged. If it had been I'd have brushed my hair!"

But Katie admitted the scandal had shocked her parents Anona and Roy.

"My family is very conservative," she said. "My mum told me, ‘I'm really disappointed in you', as was my dad. And that means I'm disappointed in me and unhappy with what I'd done.

"I don't apologise for seeing Mark or doing what I did. I'm ruled by my heart. But I do apologise for hurting my family. I'm not proud of that."

Nevertheless headstrong Katie refused to rule out becoming a hubby-snatcher AGAIN.

"I'll always follow my heart," she vowed. "Whoever my next person is, if I find them brilliant I will go with it, whatever the situation—whether they're married, black, white, whatever.

"I'm not saying I will deliberately pick on a married man. But at my age, and the level of man I go for, they don't tend to be single."

Katie revealed that her relationship with workmate Mark had ended after the snaps were published.

But she refused to apologise for the fling—and admits this deeply personal testimony of their relationship will be seen as an "open love letter" calling on her lost love to finally ditch loyal wife Ruth, 50, and walk out on his seven-year marriage.

Grudgingly she added: "Now Mark's back with his wife and I'm doing the right thing—I'm letting them get on with trying to save their marriage.

"But it's hard. I'm going through hell. This is so much harder than The Apprentice."

Man-eater Katie's affair with Cross is just the latest in a string of liaisons that have seen her attacked for breaking up THREE marriages, involving SIX children.

But the self-confessed "ruthless alpha-female" insisted: "I'm not going to say I'm sorry. I saw Mark was wearing a wedding ring. I knew he was married from day one.

"There are some situations where you follow your head, and some where you follow your heart.

"I follow my heart. I loved Mark. I still love Mark. It isn't something I will apologise for."

The pair met as they both worked at the Met Office's HQ in Devon, where she was on a £90,000 salary as a global brand manager and he was a senior design boss.

They regularly took trips together to London and were often put up in the same hotels, dining in the same restaurants and whiling away long nights of free time together.

Eventually this close working relationship exploded into physical attraction and they ended up in bed together.

They managed to keep their passionate affair a secret for six months.

"Mark's brilliant at what he does, which is something I've always found extremely attractive," said Katie. "And he's very fit and athletic, someone who's strong, which I like.

"Keeping it all quiet was hard but I didn't feel guilty about it. Guilty wasn't a part of it. We were great together.

"Mark's definitely my missing person of the moment. He's my other half.

"We hadn't got so far as to talking about marriage, but we had got to that stage where it just feels so right with each other. We were together—and we were brilliant together."

Katie recalled a steamy break the lovers shared in Rome—just before returning home and getting caught out alfresco by the camera.

"It's the most romantic city in the world," she said. "We went to the Spanish Steps and all the other wonderful sights. We both thought it was brilliant.

"You don't get trips like that, with people like that, very often in your life. You have to cherish moments like that."

Since Cross went back to his wife, Katie admits she has been plunged into the depths of depression, losing an incredible TWO STONE in weight.

"Everybody is seeing our relationship through certain lenses," she added.

"There's the lens that says he's married, and the lens that makes me into some man-eating superbitch, the most hated woman in Britain.

"We're just very passionate people—two people that love each other to death. That's the reality."

But Katie was quickly back in bitch mode when she turned to another recent liaison—with fellow Apprentice contestant and ex-Army toff PAUL CALLAGHAN.

In ungentlemanly fashion he last week described how they had sex in the TV house attic and rated her just six out of ten.

Katie, who insists she's a perfect ten, admitted they fell for each other but denied sleeping with him on location. "We were quite huggy and we did spend a lot of time together," she said. "But I think he was a sap. He was my puppy dog."

Katie also hit back at critics who condemned her over the way she landed husband Damian McKinney—when he'd already had a wife for 20 years and three children.

Katie insists that the marriage was already on the rocks when they became close. And she accused Damian of then ripping HER world apart by dumping her for a younger mistress—just after she gave birth to their second child.

"Since I left the TV show I'm the one who's been made out as nasty," she said. "But there is another side to the stories. Damian was unfaithful to ME and left me devastated."

Katie recalled how she was instantly attracted to ex-army man Damian—15 years her senior—after joining his business consultancy firm McKinney Rogers in September 2003.

"He was a good-looking version of Sir Alan," she said. "He had this incredible charisma. When he walked into the room you just knew he was there. He was a brilliant man.

"He was still married but he was separated. He lived in a flat in London and his wife and family lived in Devon.

"I took an interest in him at a time when clearly no one else was doing it. He was so clever, turning his company into a global empire. But the thing about people like him is that while they spend all day supporting others and solving their problems, often nobody will be there for any problems they have.

"I was there for Damian at that time and we became very close."

The pair married in 2004 and lived in New York. But Katie claims that just a year into their marriage, Damian started an affair. And to make matters worse Katie was friends with the brunette secretary in question. She'd even helped her gain a new post in New York that put her closer to Damian.

"She was a younger version of me, with brown hair," said Katie. "I first found out about it when I found an email with details about some tickets for the two of them to see a show in Manhattan. They were for the same week as our anniversary.

"A woman just knows when her husband is having an affair, and I knew. But I thought at one stage I might be able to salvage the relationship for the children."

Katie gave birth to India in September 2004, and then Poppy a year later, at a hospital in Exeter, near their home.

"The day after I had Poppy, Damian left with his girlfriend for a conference," said Katie. "I didn't want him to go. I knew she was going to be there and it was the end of our marriage. When he came back home he just picked up his things and left.

"She was the new me. The younger new me. She's now in our old apartment, sitting at my old desk—but she couldn't do my job, because she doesn't have any brains."

After the split Katie began a relationship with a fellow worker at the same firm-ex-marine Paul Collin—despite his three-year marriage to wife Melanie, mum of his two kids.

Again Katie insists the couple had already separated. "He lived in a flat, not in the marital home," she said. "They'd split up, and reports that I broke them up are tosh."

The pair began flirting with each other at work, which led to dinner together and then into the sack. And Katie described how they hit the road for passionate romps all over the county.

"Devon is a beautiful place and Paul had a camper van we'd travel around in," she said.

"Everybody loves to be loved. But it was only the one summer."

Katie also fended off criticism over her controversial confession that she decided to run the New York Marathon when she was pregnant "to see if the baby was meant to be".

Last night she told us: "That was my opinion at the time. I won't apologise for that. That was how I was thinking. I was something like seven or eight weeks pregnant.

"But, unlike many women, I'd never tell people I was pregnant until after 12 weeks."

Katie went on to complete the course in a respectable threehours 40minutes. Although obviously devoted to her kids—a big part of the reason she turned down a place in the Apprentice final—giving birth did not warm Katie to the delights of babies.

"Very young children are dull," she said. "They're just there, like a little blob. A baby that age does three things, it eats, it s***s, it sleeps."

But she described her time now—with India approaching three, and Poppy nearing two—as "brilliant".

"I think the age my children are now is the best," she explained. "When they get to one they start talking, forming opinions and having a conversation with you. You start to see their personalities. It's fantastic.

"I find motherhood brilliant. And you CAN be a working mother. I love the time I spend with my kids, but I couldn't spend ALL my time at home with them. It's not enough for me."

So what's next for Katie? "I always expected I'd do well on the Apprentice," she said. "It's just a shame that the true winner won't be crowned the winner.

"But I'd love to be a Tory MP...I'm a massive fan of Margaret Thatcher."

We'd never have guessed...

You\'re fired again, Katie!

Quote:

You're fired again, Katie!

For weeks she revelled in the limelight as the woman viewers loved to hate.

Katie Hopkins, a contestant on the hit BBC1 show The Apprentice, called herself the "alpha female", boasted of her affairs with married men and was even photographed making love in a cornfield.

Last week she walked out of the programme, leaving viewers startled as she turned down the chance of a £100,000-a-year job with Sir Alan

Now, however, she might be regretting her decision - because yesterday she was sacked from her day job.

Miss Hopkins, 31, turned up for work at the Meteorological Office to find herself dismissed for bringing the weather forecasters into disrepute.

Perhaps the single mother of two should have seen it coming.

It was only just over a week ago that the serial seductress was photographed having sex with married ex-Met Office colleague Mark Cross in a Devon field.

And on Sunday she told a downmarket newspaper that she considered herself "ten out of ten" in the bedroom and was unrepentant over her widely publicised adulterous behaviour.

After quitting The Apprentice, Miss Hopkins chose to return to the West Country and her £90,000-a-year post as a "global brand consultant" for the Met Office.

But at 9.30am yesterday she was told that her bosses had had enough. According to Met Office insiders, she was stunned to be fired.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Katie was informed that we were terminating her period of probation with us.

"Although the probationary period is normally one year and Katie joined us in September 2006, we have the right to terminate her employment at any time during that period.

"In making this decision we would look at work performance, time keeping and conduct and review how a prospective employee is capable of achieving and maintaining an acceptable standard in all these areas.

"We decided that in this case Katie did not meet those standards and her employment was terminated."

A colleague, who asked not to be named, said: "I know that bosses in the Met Office feel she has let them down and they have been damaged by association.

"When you think she came in as a brand consultant, she hasn't proved herself worthwhile."

The company had already allowed her seven weeks leave of absence to appear on The Apprentice, but had not expected the whirlwind of publicity that followed.

In her weekend newspaper interview, which is believed to have earnt her £40,000, she claimed she had had ten lovers and lost her virginity at 17 after leaving convent school.

Miss Hopkins, who has spoken openly about her flings with three married men, even refused to rule out having an affair with another woman's husband again, claiming: "I will always follow my heart."

She also spoke about the pictures of her having sex in the cornfield.

She said: "I'm not going to apologise. Yes, we were making love. It's obvious from the pictures what we were doing.

"Mark had the benefit of seeing the full Katie Hopkins out on show."

But she claims the affair with Mr Cross has ended after the photographs of their tryst were published.

Miss Hopkins is currently staying at her parents' house in Exeter.

Her father, when asked about the latest turn of events, claimed his daughter had nothing to say about the Met Office's decision to sack her.

Tomorrow night's final of The Apprentice will see 36-year-old pharmaceutical sales manager Kristina Grimes, from Harrogate, take on Internet entrepreneur Simon Ambrose, 27, from London, for the top prize.

Interviews with Katie and Tre in this weeks heat magazine!

James 13-06-2007 07:24 PM

Quote:

After 11 gruelling weeks, Sir Alan Sugar will hire The Apprentice tonight (9pm, BBC1).

This year's finalists, Kristina Grimes and Simon Ambrose, took time out from their busy schedule to answer some of the best questions which you submitted for them...

What was your favourite task and why?

Kristina: The art task which I won by a landslide. I thought I managed it well and I ruthlessly had my team doing hardselling. Winning it was a big pat on the back.
Simon: I'd also say that one - getting the chance to be a curator in a gallery was a dream come true for me.

Simon, where did you learn to breakdance?

Simon: I've been doing martial arts for 15 years - I'm a black belt in karate and a lot of those moves are dance-related.

What do you get up to between the tasks?

Simon: Nothing! We don't get any time off at all - filming in the boardroom takes up a whole day and then it's back to sleep before the next task.

Did you go into the series with a gameplan?

Kristina: (laughing) Simon did.
Simon: I did and I didn't. In real life I'm the joker of the pack and I think I've been myself on the series. There's always room for fun in the workplace.

Who do you think would have made the worst Apprentice?

Simon: Katie. She'd have lasted five minutes. She's a great girl but did you really think she was interested in the job? No.

Were you surprised when Katie stood down?

Simon: Not really. However, we were expecting her to be fired. There was genuine shock among the production team when she said she didn't want to go any further.

Are you disappointed you're not going to get the chance to beat her in the final?

Kristina: Not at all. I think I have real competition in Simon and I like a challenge. The only person who actually believes Katie could beat me in the final is Katie.

Will you keep in touch with the other candidates?

Kristina: I think I'll keep in touch with most of them - certainly Simon. And also, Naomi, Tre, Natalie, Jerry and Jadine. Most of them.

How have you been coping with the fame that comes with being in the series?

Kristina: What fame? All I've been doing is hard grafting!
Simon: A lot of people wouldn't recognise me when I'm not wearing my business clothes. I've had a few people buy me a drink - that's always nice!

If the tables were turned, would you hire Sir Alan as your apprentice?

Kristina: (laughing) Now that's an interesting question! I think he's a one man band to be honest. He has to be at the top of the pyramid so it wouldn't work with him as the apprentice. He's very shrewd and I don't think you can ever underestimate him. He will still remember things five, ten years down the line.

Do you think he has any weaknesses?

Kristina: Well, he got hoodwinked by Katie for a second and also, I think, by Michelle in the last series so maybe occasionally a woman can pull the wool over his eyes.

Simon, do your think your yellow socks helped your through the interviews?

Simon: (laughing) How could a pair of socks help me? Actually, there's an interesting story behind them - they were given to me by a successful entrepreneur - Richard Branson. When I was on one of his planes I found them in the seat pocket in front of me. So you could say he gave them to me indirectly!

What sort of apprentice will you be? Are you a coffee maker or a coffee taker?

Simon: (laughing) Both!
Kristina: Well, I'm totally proactive so I would be making it. I have pushed myself so far and to win is the starting point. I then want to do everything I can to ensure that Sir Alan wants to keep me on.

What are your plans if you don't win?

Kristina: I applied to win and that's my only focus. At the moment I can't see any further than that.
Simon: Likewise, I'm incredibly driven and the idea of not winning hasn't entered my head.

Watch The Apprentice final on Wednesday at 9pm on BBC1

So simon is the winner. I'm surpriced. I hope he does a good job!

James 13-06-2007 11:14 PM

I had a feeling SAS would choose Simon. I can actually see the logic in it now that the job is in property development.
