I do think they were done as characters, at least for now, but that's not to say they couldn't have had a happy ending which therefore would have kept the door open for a future return once they'd been rested and once a producer came in that actually respected the characters. I agree. During DTC's cull he just had them all leave (Alice, Kirsty, Jake etc) rather than killing them
