Yes, but that is all in the past.

At least after getting advice,
he has got rid of the delay of Oct. 31st
and doing it today
first in Parliament 11AM

Then around 3PM on TV news,

Improving the Market Live

It's what he did and stuck to and the NHS lost junior Doctors because of it and his other measures he implemented in the NHS.

Past or not, it was a massive error which he said it was when he wasn't a Minister anymore.
So there's doubts on him too from me.

He may well improve the confidence of the markets but the way he now may have to.
After this mess from Truss/Kwarteng.
Could be very hard indeed further on the citizens of the UK.

Nothing changes the now likely fact, near all she said to get elected is out the window possibly now.
Which leaves Truss looking even more untrustworthy .

IF the Cons want any chance of real credibility they need to look now at Sunak who within a month has been proved to be more right from his leadership campaign statements.

Sure Joey
you Hate Hunt.

But he is making the major changes today

No General Election
so we are stuck with this Chancellor

Hunt may well do things to turn around the market perception and that would be great. However, there is now a much bigger issue, nobody trusts a word liz says. She has shown herself to be completely incompetent and an election loser. She will go, the only questions are on how and when

I don't hate Hunt.
I disliked intensely his part in wrecking the NHS and crushing the junior Doctors morale and hopes

If Truss does get thrown out I wouldn't bank on a new leader possibly keeping Hunt as Chancellor.

However my hope is the longer the Cons set out to FORCE the electorate to NOT have any say in this shambolic farce playing out.
Hopefully the price they'll pay for that whenever the next election is will be colossal .
Plus if things were to seem to improve a little too, that's often when voters decide it's even safer to vote for change.

What many are not understanding is that the government in power now are not the conservative party. They are a bunch of people pretending to be conservatives but nothing could be further from reality. They have been found out, and now they are going to pay for it

Y'know hiw Liz Truss used to be a Lib Dem?

Let's pretend for a moment that she's still an LD, and she decided to infiltrate the Tories, and ruin their reputation by making absolutely awful decisions, and to tank their chances at the following election...

... how would she act ANY different?

Which policies have strayed away from conservatism? I've seen this nonsense repeated a lot over the last few days as Tories try to distance themselves from the mess they've either made or voted for.

Things weren't all rainbows and unicorns before Liz truss 2 weeks ago. Was Boris a secret Marxist, or May a revolutionary communist?

smudgie 17-10-2022 10:06 AM

honestly, if they do go back on the energy guarantee, the government can't survive. Apparently hunt is walking back everything in the mini budget

Cherie 17-10-2022 10:18 AM

Energy guarantee gone

In some ways it needed looking at and there are so many people in receipt of it that do not need it

Means test it like child benefit

Also gas prices have fallen already, the energy companies and their practices need looking at

bots 17-10-2022 10:18 AM

Confirmed the energy guarantee only lasts until April

[The government is scrapping almost all of the
tax measures announced in its mini-budget
three weeks ago, new Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announces
The basic rate of income tax will remain at 20p
indefinitely - instead of being reduced to 19p
But the planned cut to stamp duty and
National Insurance will go ahead
Hunt says the government will also review
the help it is providing with energy bills
The announcement - bringing forward measures
from an economic plan due on 31 October - is designed
to deliver confidence and stability, Hunt says
He will address MPs in the House of Commons at 15.30
Liz Truss has endured a weekend of open
dissent from the Tory ranks - with one former
minister saying her position is untenable

Commons Leader Penny Mordaunt has urged the
party to back Truss, saying the
UK needs stability "not a soap opera"]

Very sombre statement from Hunt.
Labour too wanted energy frozen at the pre October rise until April.

The rise of £600 is still in place.

This is absolutely disgraceful to the people of the UK.
I hope they take all of it on board.
