Viagra does obviously affect your circulation pretty substantially so it's not unreasonable for it to have side effects not previously discovered

….they need to get on with the clinical trials, rather than tell us that we need clinical trials and when that’s a pretty obvious….Viagra…(…I thought was a brand name…)…so it’s going to be a long process of discovering which element of the Viagra or combination of elements so that those things can be applied to progress in Alzheimer’s medication….

the thing is we have a ton of drugs that manipulate your circulation already, one would think that there must be loads of information available from them that apply equally to men and women. It may be they just haven't been looking at the data in the right way. This is where AI can get of it's ass and actually do some good

…my mom had Alzheimer’s for many years before she died…she would have thought it funny to have been prescribed Viagra, she would definitely had a lot to say about that…and having sadly lost her filter with the disease, I won’t even think what she might have said…/…some of the things, Lordy Lord…

GPs are useless and inexperienced at dealing with things in any real depth beyond referrals and rashes half the time so why is it that you get people like Liam on Emmerdale (Dr Gaddas has her uses so she’s off rhe hook, for now) being all-purpose GPs who are practically midwives (or mid-husbands) qualified to deliver babies and to deal with every shade of acute trauma (physical and mental) under the sun? And why does no-one question why Liam is so awkward?

I do ponder. One ponders.

A good 60% of GPs are doctors by name only. Some are lovely and really wanna help but there’s only so much they know. It does help to have a good relationship with your GP and be able to liaise and work with them but it doesn’t always happen like that. It depends on the person and how much they actually care and know.

As someone who likes to go in deep and go the extra mile for people in whatever capacity I can at any particular time, I … yeah. I can’t stand the surface-level mentality and laziness of your average GP. Too many of them just haven’t got a clue.

Say you’ve got a complex problem now and the referral-list is taking the long-ting piss so you’re stuck with primary healthcare for now. You ain’t gonna get what you need if your GP’s like that, and if you’re on a knowledgeable advocate of your own case and really know what you’re doing GPs can just be a barrier between you and your progress, because they ain’t gonna prescribe you the best medication or the right dose for it. Sometimes you’ve got to be your own best advocate but even then the system might hold you back. Not saying all GPs are bad but you’ve also got to be very aware of their limitations. They’re not experts about anything in particular even with the right attitude. They only know a little about a lot.

The appalling customer-service that can come with Delta and Alpha Taxis behind the scenes and the ways they make it hard for people to justify using them is worth a ponder. Someone whose livelihood is being eaten up by Uber and has been at any point over the past 8 years should be at least trying to smooth out people’s interactions with them instead of making it difficult. Having to wait 40 minutes for a notifying call in this age of Uber is already an L.

KingKabs Chester is a decent firm and one I happily use when I’m in Chester. But in general local firms need to do a lot better if they want to stand a chance of not getting snapped up completely by the big U.

My personal intuition. A lot of the time I actually don’t go wrong if I listen to my inner voice.

Trigger warning to anyone reading - my post will contain brutally honest opinions that might feel really nasty or harsh, if you don't want to read it, then I suggest not clicking on the spoiler tag.

Spoiler:

Why is nearly everyone on this year's CBB either botoxed or tango'd? Again I know that I'm no oil painting, so I probably shouldn't be pulling up other people's looks. But what the heck at ITV's casting decisions! No wonder BB isn't breaking out in popularity with the masses (Wikipedia won't even show the viewership for this CBB,) and I get that you've got to cast all sorts of people, and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc etc. But casting a few attractive people in the line-up does attract more attention to your Show, analytics prove that to be the case, plus where are the everyday type of Celebs? To put it bluntly, I mean Celebs that look more like an everyman? And I honestly don't like to make posts like this, hence why I'm trying to hide it away from the BB section, because I don't want the contestants families to potentially see it, but honestly, ITV need to balance out their casting a little bit more for future series.

cosmetic "enhancement" is an affordable fact of life these days. Peer pressure encourages people to have it done, and then there is no turning back

I personally think that the production can still find potential Housemates that aren't like that though, regardless of what trends are currently in vogue.

The fact that clomipramine’s better at being an SSRI and SNRI than anything from paroxetine to venlafaxine and very-much a worthy option among tricyclics (and probably just short of MAOIs in pure anti-depressant potency) but is still only rarely prescribed for depression per-se and just thought of as a drug for OCD, autism, body dysmorphia, stuttering, trichotillomania, premature ejaculation and just-about every other thing/syndrome it’s used for besides actual depression. I know about the bias of capitalistic marketing, big pharma and bias towards newer drugs because they have “less potential side-effects” but still, why? Why is clomipramine so rarely prescribed for depression compared to amitriptyline and the like?

Also. Corrie has magnificent presence in Dee-Dee (a strong black woman) but by certain circles she’s very underrated and barely even acknowledged. I can’t imagine why.

If I hear “it’s not the case that society has a certain subconscious expectation about black women and the way they’re supposed to hold their space”, I’ll be prepared to fully go there. People DO have unconscious biases and that goes for and towards people who are partially mixed race, Portuguese, just-plain white, lesbian, punky, black, over or under a certain age and every other type of human diversity under the sun. Someone sitting on the raggedy throne of unquestioned privilege might not agree but that’s kind of the point.

Human Beings will always have bias.

I know that I do, mine I don't really see as a prejudice thing as such, but more certain personality traits that grab me more than others.

Plus first impressions will swing anyone's opinion of someone, and if it's a bad first impression, then it's going to take that individual to do something really impressive to turn it around for the other person.

That's my opinion anyway.

What the worst year of my life was. 2020-21 had a lot of low moments and crushing experiences but they were ultimately character-building and there was a lot of good stuff as well (and lockdown was a peaceful breather). 2019 was just pure garbage from start to finish and the year when I had literally no money. Through every fault of my own. I’m just glad it’s not 2019. I’d have to go back to 2014-15 to find a dodgier period in my life. 2019 had more freedom and that’s it. Then Covid came and I was finally able to just ponder healthily and ooze out a little bit. Taking the right kind of time for myself. I know the pandemic was hard on people but all-in-all that was just not my experience. Things were worse for me before than during Covid. A lot, lot worse.

Late 2020 to 2021 was bittersweet. Some good, some very bad. But again that’s nothing to do with Covid and everything to do with my own actual personal life trajectory, which is way more important to me than whatever latest crisis is going on in the world. That’s not how I judge my life. Covid was just another thing. In 2016 it was Brexit, in the late ’10s it was terror attacks and ISIS, in 2020 it was Covid. But life was still life. I ponder why so many people get so overly attached to the things of the world and use that to decide for themselves how they should view their lives. I just find it pathetic and cliched.

I understand, Mock. First impressions do count but just remember that still waters run deep and stuff. You can’t judge a person’s whole life story for all the years/decades they’ve been alive based on an initial appearance or anything, really, short of actually getting to know them. We all make presumptions but it’s a habit we all need to get out of when it’s not necessary.

Oh I agree with you that you need to get to know the person, to just make sure that your first impression was either right or wrong, it's just some people don't have that attitude unfortunately.

And to go to your other point, my least favourite periods in my life were either the last few months of last year, or 2016 as a whole, I really didn't enjoy those periods.

And to add, I agree with you that Covid shouldn't be the be all and end all to what's an individual person's worst year, because it should always depend on your own circumstances as to why a year is your favourite or least favourite.

Because people who don't want to watch what sounds like Porn wouldn't go on the site, and the people that would, would be disappointed by the lack of Porn, if it were called X.com

I hear you, Mock, and I agree with you about 2016. The last few months of that year were like a fresh start for me but the way a lot of us millennials (and early Gen Zs) rave about the summer of 2016 you’d think it was like Christmas came early. But that was the time my auntie died of cancer so it wasn’t great for me. And the first 3/4 of 2016 weren’t amazing for me personally anyway. I achieved one core goal I had but that was … it.
