How wonderful to now have evidence that people who preach about free speech only really care for it when it’s used in their favour, this sets a very dangerous precedent

Cherie 10-03-2023 04:12 PM

The BBC picks and chooses its impartiality though, they didn't show the opening ceremony of the WC and we were treated to a diatribe from some of the presenters who took money from the Qataris to present on their channels

If the UK actually created safe legal routes for migrants we might not have as many boats, instead they like to keep throwing money at the French to solve the problem

his free speech isn't affected, he can say whatever he likes, he just cant expect to work for an impartial broadcaster. The choice is his

The government forcing their friends at the bbc to punish a tv presenter for being critical of them, away from his job, very much sets a dangerous precedent

He will do GB news if the price is right.

Cherie 10-03-2023 04:16 PM

Has Gary been sacked? omg

GoldHeart 10-03-2023 04:17 PM

Yeah I will say there is a bit of hypocrisy whether people agree with Linekar or not. Either they're all allowed to comment on politics or they're not allowed to ?. Why is it ok for some and not others?.

not sacked, he will just not present the show anymore until he agrees not to make political tweets

Alf 10-03-2023 04:20 PM

You can understand why he thinks that immigration is low though. Just check out the demographics of where he lives in Barnes, South London. He must think to himself, "what's everyone else talking about? all I see is rich White people"

You know why, the bbc has been packed full of Tory friends, donors and previous candidates, right wingers can say whatever they want on air at the bbc, it’s their playground.

This has got nothing to do with impartiality, it’s about someone openly criticising the government, ironically proving his point by acting like fascists

He can go back to the Qatari owned al Jazeera and get 1.6 million again for presenting their champions league show.

So much so that they had to start up GB news just so they can have their opinion.
