My very gentle sister was caught up in this yesterday, she was booked into the Holiday Inn express as her husband was having a hospital procedure that required an overnight stay, she was lucky to get a taxi from the hospital to O Connell Bridge as all buses were suspended, the taxi had just come on shift so didnt know there were problems, there was a bus on fire on O Connell Bridge, she said lootiing was going on as she walked toward her hotel, one guy was carrying 3 shoe boxes and a guy across the street shouted, hey Mister what size are they  she said there were alot of people around but as she carried on the atmosphere got very tense with lots of youths in hoods and masks, the Gardai had cordoned off the street to her hotel and told her to that she couldn't get in...and to book in somewhere else, luckily she was able to do that, she doesnt drink but went straight to the bar and ordered a whiskey as she was shaking, and she found out later the hotel she was due to stay in was attacked, she said Dublin was deserted today, should have been a crazy busy day shopping wise but the city centre was deserted....well done lads...tank the economy while you are wearing your looted trainers

Some guy stabbed a little 5 year old innocent girl in the neck with a knife for no reason. Among others he stabbed with a knife.
That's by a million miles the worst crime here in this situation. The answer we need is, what was his motivation for this attack? |

Yes, Evil Terrorist. |

Just because a bunch of thugs in Ireland behave horribly, shouldn't be a condemnation of you Niamh or other innocent Irish people. And thankfully I believe that most Irish people have conducted themselves with dignity anyway, but either way it doesn't change the fact that you're a good person. And to the other side of this debate who hate immigrants, it's likely that the attacker was a foreigner, but one of the people trying to stop him was from Brazil, which the last time I checked was not in Ireland, so one foreigner did bad whilst the other did good. I know that my view is very old school by today's standards where people are judged by their demographic, but for me the individual should be always be more important when judging someone. |

The principal of Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire has requested privacy for the school community after yesterday's harrowing ordeal.
Three pupils and a creche worker were amongst those injured in the stabbing incident on Parnell Square. A five year old girl is fighting for her life in Temple Street Hospital while the creche worker, aged in her 30s, was also seriously injured. Principal Pol Hansard said the school community are "deeply shocked and saddened" following yesterday's harrowing attack. Pupils will also receive psychological support due to the distressing nature of the incident. The principal acknowledged: "Offers of support have been pouring in and are greatly appreciated. Psychologists from the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) have been with us, supporting and advising the staff in our efforts to assist our school community." Two other young pupils were left with less serious injuries following the stabbing. A five-year-old boy has since been released from Crumlin Hospital while a six-year-old girl continues to receive treatment there. https://www.dublinlive.ie/news/princ...-asks-28172047 |

https://www.independent.ie/irish-new...198507873.html …also there is no mention anywhere that I can see that there’s an immigration centre across the road or in the immediate area…it may have been stated somewhere in the media but I can’t see it… |

I can agree with hate speech being allowed to a point, because I personally see it as a debate to try and understand these types of people, and hopefully get them to understand why hating certain groups is wrong imo. However I do feel uncomfortable once it starts getting to the threatening level. |
Gardaí investigating the stabbing attack on children in Dublin city centre have searched the accommodation of the chief suspect in the case.
The man’s laptop and telephone have also been seized for searching as gardaí try to establish a motive for the attack. The suspect, who is in his late 40s and is a naturalised Irish citizen, has lived at different addresses around Dublin. Gardaí believe he is a single man with no children in Ireland, where he has lived for about two decades. As the motive for the attack, at about 1.30pm on Thursday on Parnell Square East, has not been established, gardaí have not ruled out a mental health episode or a terror-related link. https://www.irishtimes.com/crime-law...hild-stabbing/ |

More than €320,000 (£278,000) has been raised for a Deliveroo driver who helped halt a knife attack outside a primary school in Dublin.
Brazilian delivery man Caio Benicio has been hailed a hero after he subdued the knifeman by hitting him on the head with his motorbike helmet. https://uk.yahoo.com/news/thousands-...220400130.html …… |

The knife attack was a heinous crime, but I will never understand why destroying and terrorising your own city is seen as an appropriate response by some members of society. The only people that suffer as a result are innocent Irish people trying to lead their lives. There has to be a better way.
