Brilliant:) c4 still hasn't found a proper replacement for bb apart from Gogglebox really

Good for BB, the singer takes it all was actually quite good, I preferred it to X factor as it's a lots shorter and the concept is more interesting and fun, but like the Jump a few things need to be changed. Channel 4 need to stop competing with BB, by putting reality shows up against it, because BB always seems to wins, Channel 4 is so stupid. If they put the singer takes it all on Saturday at 8 or 10, it would do well probably. But great rating for BB, pleased with that.

I agree, they should focus on getting some decent programming and not trying to strangle their own ex-show. You'd think they'd leave BB alone tbh, they axed it and you'd think they still had a little admiration for it.

lmao at that singing show :joker: at least BB has been consistent

Cal. 02-08-2014 11:41 AM

Is the average above 1.5? Because if it is hopefully that means we're getting another series.

1.54 at the moment.

This week has seen a rise in ratings which I wasn't expecting so late on but the ratings are still pretty low.

BB has been advertised on some other channels recently though, some satellite channels that Viacom own so nothing major but it could be the reason for the slight increase.

I hope it either stays there or goes up, a 1.6 average would be good but I think we might finish with a 1.3 or 1.4 average.

I agree, if they like BB so much they should try and get the contract back, and this competing thing with Channel 4 and 5 will stop, but then ch5 will do the same. I did't watch The singer.... all last night, watched it on 4oD this morning. I was annoyed they were on at the same time as they both appealed to me, if it was on at 8, the singer takes it all would have done well.

daniel-lewis-1985 02-08-2014 11:49 AM

I switched over to the singer takes it all for the first 10 minutes of BB which is just recaps of the week.

I wasn't impressed at all it came across very cheap, I can see it dropping to around 500k and being pushed back to 11pm.

Ratings wouldn't go up if it was on Channel 4 though would they really? On Channel 5 its shown it can get 3 millions, so I think the battle would continue. I think Channel 4 are hit and miss with their schedules, sometimes they're dead on like when they played Rise of the Planet of the Apes on eviction night and Titanic at the beginning of Armageddon, but sometimes they're just silly and ruin their own shows.

So far the only 'good shows' they've managed to produce since BB is Gogglebox and Benefits Street. I don't even understand what makes them the inferior channel anymore, they have Hollyoaks and a few dodgy reality TV shows, Deal or No Deal and Come Dine With Me, Channel 5 has Benefits Britain: Life on The Dole, Big Brother, Neighbours, Home and Away, Dangerous Dogs and Autopsy: The Last Hours of.

Cbb won't rate much higher I don't think

In my view, as far as renewal is concerned, the only channel BB needs to worry about in terms of other shows beating it is the one it's on. Quite a few of C5's shows have beaten BB this year, shows that are a lot cheaper to produce.

I just hope that the fact BB and CBB are on for around 120 days of the year (inc. January in this statistic) it fairs cheaper in the long run IMO. Imagine the budgetig required for 120-150 hours worth of shows, plus with BOTS that could see nearly 250 hours worth of extra programming, and with channel 5 being such a small broadcaster, I'd doubt they'd have the people power to even be able to do so.. Not to mention having just layed off the employees who would have worked on BB.. In my opinion, BB would remain on the channel for this idea alone, as if they ditch, it'd be hard to regain good balance in rating numbers, plus so much more time and money would be required! I suspect it would follow channel 4s steps. Most shows are being beaten by BB and other shows too, yet there are still some that pull in good viewing figures, e.g. Googlebox, 1 born, Educating Yorkshire etc.

Rob! 02-08-2014 01:26 PM

DS reporting that singer takes all only got 900k without +1!

Channel 5 is hardly "such a small broadcaster" is it.

Even worse than I expected

daniel-lewis-1985 02-08-2014 01:40 PM

Without +1 BB got 1.15 million (5.8%) so wheres the 1.3 coming from? I don't think it would have achieved 1.3m that would mean 150k watched on +1 when it only usually adds around 90k.

BOTS did really bad with 597k (4.7%) compare that to last year which was getting around 700k/900k.

Jay. 02-08-2014 01:44 PM

So glad it beat that singing show, I watched a bit of it and it was a complete flop.

It's actually got one of the smallest employee numbers and budget of the major broadcasters. BBC, ITV, C4, Sky, UKTV and Viacom have more employees and all but UKTV and Viacom have a bigger budget. So.. yeh, it is pretty small in comparison!

It usually gets 90K on plus one because of the timeslot it's in during the week (10PM live, 11PM +1)
