Won't people just assume that Rita is out with Doreen? Only Nick knows she went home and I can't see him holding a conversation any sooner.

Kerry 06-12-2010 10:51 PM

They'll find Rita. Its emergency services job to look everywhere even if no people are reported in there. It'll just take longer as they'll go to the places people are reported to be in first

Not really old enough to remember that much about it but can remember enough, but people thinking Eastenders is good haven't seen anything till they see good old Brookie. also remember that other explosion where Claire Sweeneys kid got trapped in a sewage pipe or something :laugh2:

I also remember the first ever controversial lesbian kiss ... SHOCK HORROR. Jackie Corkhill = legend

The theme tune also = one of the best ever TV theme tunes

It was sad when Susannah's kids died in the crash:(. Max kept doing the dirty on the poor woman too much..

I really liked Lindsey shame they had Linda Lusardi's character steal Peter off her:nono:.

Barry Grant was a legend though!.

Watched tonight's episode. Watched Corrie a few times this week infact after like a year of not really watching it because it was a bit poo.

I have to say.. I enjoyed watching Corrie this week. Especially tonight's 1 hour episode. It was amazing!! :D Aww I want to give Tyrone a hug. I never was a fan of Mollie even when she first came onto the street. Never trust anyway with weird looking eyes. Mmm. I am guessing John will get away killing that woman!! He might as well chuck her in the fire after all

And oh my god.. I saw the clips of Tracey!! When she is going to return :D That looks epic! Can't wait until she comes back on Christmas Eve

Beastie 06-12-2010 11:50 PM

Oh my god.. it was so funny.. the tram in slow motion, going towards Molly and Jack then BOOM! Lol at the funny man driving the tram :D epic!

It's a shame that the SFX team didn't have longer to work on the tram crash sequence & they said in the interview that they couldn't find a realistic way for it to crash as the Corrie art department had already placed the real tram carriages in their final resting positions on the exterior set before they made the CGI parts, hence the second carriage in particular rearing up like a dinosaur & smashing down onto the Kabin :joker:

It was good though, especially considering it is a soap & not a Hollywood film...

Did anyone else watch on ITV HD? The CGI tram looked hilarious on that, very very obviously fake, but then even some SFX on BluRay can look very fake, I guess that is the only problem with HD, it shows a little too much...

Watching it in SD it looked much better IMO...

The bit that didn't wash with me was when the trams suddenly branch off at that viaduct when whenever we've seen a tram its always been in a straight line. They could have had it coming over the side on its side and it would have took out the 2 shops easy enough instead of it doing a titanic

Yeah that was really bizarre & just over complicated things... :nono:

It's a shame the SFX guys were not on site before the Corrie crew placed the tram carriages at those stupid angles, it could have looked so much better...

That's because it branches off into two lines

I don't see how anybody can really bemoan what happened last night as I just thought it was pure perfection.

Corrie proved last night what I have always thought and that is that it is the no1 soap on television.

Scarlett. 07-12-2010 12:27 PM

Last night, for the first time in a long time, the street seemed like that - a street in a town called Weatherfield, the episodes were directed so well (by Dr. Who's best director no less)

Scarlett. 07-12-2010 12:40 PM

I just remembered my favourite part of last nights show

The quick cuts before the explosion finale :D

I know but whenever we've seen a tram it has always gone straight across. We should've seen it go the other way at some points too

We wouldn't see it turn as the tram turning is quite well behind underworld

Lewis. 07-12-2010 01:09 PM

The tram was obviously fake but for a soap like corrie it was done really well. People forget about the massive difference in budget for a Hollywood blockbuster and a corrie episode.

Aye, and the time constraints, never mind trying to make the tram look completely real

Yes, but it never did before! When we used to see it before/after an advert break, that showed a straight single tram track with wider Weatherfield beyond...

Those shots were kinda bull**** though as they totally forgot that Jubilee Terrace (complete with the Flying Horse) exists on the otherside of the viaduct, they were kinda shoddily done, they just overlayed real life pictures onto the presentation and contradicted themselves (The Rovers arch dissappeared on them at one point) where as that Weatherfield shown there is custom made CGI, complete with Jubilee Terrace

Indeed but it's complete inconsistancy, when we have seen as recently as earlier this year quite frequently the tram track being a single track that went dead straight... Eagle eyed viewers (like me) notice these things... :nono:

Blame whoever made those old titles :p

Is this the shot you were on about (minus the funny tram crash)
