dictators like him should have no rights for a recount

It's not that there's a recount in Arizona, it was called because Fox mistakenly thought 95% of votes had been counted when it was actually only 85% and there was still a chance of the percentage flipping back. Based on the trends so far (Biden lead lessening with there still being time to go), there's a good chance it will turn red, leaving Biden presidency to hinge on GA and PA postal votes. From what I'm reading at least one of them is likely to go blue (and both have more electoral votes than Arizona) but its nowhere near a finished race.

My God this is agonising, can only imagine how the American people feel

Being able to post in your vote on polling day is literally crazy!

Where are you getting this from Arista? Biden still leads in Arizona, Trump MAY overtake but that's not the current situation and the only source I can see claiming that Trump is now winning AZ is... Trump's twitter.

Both can reach 270

Its just much harder for Trump.

bots 05-11-2020 07:30 AM

it would be a lot less stressful if they didn't do the constant count updates and just waited until they could notify a result. I also think its leading to all the uncertainty by not really projecting a true picture.

People are much to quick to say Trump has lost, he hasn't, he is still in play, and it won't be over until the results have all been certified .... this is very important, because all the votes called so far are provisional, they are certified later in the process.

There is currently a federal case going on where a huge number of postal votes were hidden by the post office and not delivered and these votes are for states such as Florida and Texas where it could easily change the vote.

This election has a long way to go yet

What a mess this is.
The USA and ourselves often present both as leading lights in democracy.
Yet both now have what appears to be a largely unrepresentative and outdated system of election leaders of both Nations.

I understand it was orders from these individual States governing sources to count the mailed votes, ONLY after all the others had been.

That then makes it ridiculous that the President is arguing for vote counting to be stopped.
It was even his Party's representatives, who made that order to count them last of all.

Surely in the USA they could have had people counting them alongside the other voting counting however.
What a mess, especially with the expectation due to covid of a dramatic increase in the mailed voting.

I do hope Biden gets the figures needed and in light of the USA rules, I can't see where any legal challenge is possible.
That could be deemed serious.

Just sit back towards the weekend and see what happens.
Once all votes are counted.

It's pretty clear, had Biden been ahead in some vital States, with Trump catching him up from the counting of mailed in votes.

He would be screaming then for all votes to be counted, every single one.
That's his hypocrisy.

If he loses, which I hope he does, after his nonsense even on the first day of counting.
This must be the most undignified and pathetic departure from power of any President after an election.
Or at the end of their 2 terms.

Trump has just highlighted right from the start of counting the valid reasons why he should never have been elected to power anywhere.

2024 Trump

Oliver_W 05-11-2020 07:40 AM

Even if Trump does somehow end up the winner, he'll still have the stink of having lost the popular vote by a pretty big percentage.

If Trump loses, I hope it's by a big enough margin to make recounts or court action pointless. If it came down to one state with a tiny margin, we won't hear the end of it...

I've never took notice of polling for a good while now.

I don't blame Biden at all.

He's done enough it appears to win the election however listening to the unreasoned ranting of Trump supporters, the election campaign was and then post the election, became a near impossibility to manage.

I think Biden should have got round more States, however an opponent like Trump who when he wins, declares himself the greatest.
Then if he's losing it's down to fake news, fraud and underhand recording of votes.
The man is just looking idiotic and even deranged.

America seems to not prefer to turf out an elected President after only one term.
I always feared the polls were incorrect, also that this election would be closer than predicted.

This election if Biden wins, will have him with the electoral college votes he needs and he'll have won the most votes.

That will be an achievement in itself.
To have unseated an incumbent President who has claimed fraud and all other nonsense, with ugly rhetoric and threats during his Presidency.
Whipping up almost frenzied cult kind of support.
Operating an awful campaign too.

Maybe Biden's style is unimpressive, even boring to most.
However, he appears to have probably done enough to win.
Which if he does, really that's all that matters.

As I say boring and unimpressive Biden may be but I'd have a sigh of relief for the USA and in fact the World, if in the end Biden takes over the Presidency from this irrational, uncompromising near monster in Trump.

Can anyone imagine if we had an election this week what chaos would have ensued?

Give the USA a break they are in the grip of a pandemic, its not easy and they are all doing as best they can. Plenty countries in the world would love to have the freedom to vote as they do in the USA.

Trump also called himself ''your favourite president'' back when he did put that face mask on, that one time

another shady thing of Trump is when he somehow had corona but recovered after 3 days from it which is also very hard to believe (and then waving from his car to the people like its just leaving from a normal medical checkup) :joker:
