A few days ago, I was watching a documentary about alcohol abuse, and how much it's costing NHS. Then, we had a few drunk Scousers coming in, making a total mockery of Liverpool!

I was like, come on! We're not all like that. The damage has been done, though. People probably think we're some sort of alcoholics who go around smashing bottles on people's heads...

Mind you, most of those people haven't heard of having fun.

Another thing people forget as well now is that Britain is the most CCTV country in the world and the police have all sorts of tactics to take down thugs. Thus crimes are spotted and reported more making it appear as though there are more.

Today's Daily Mail article in the 70's would have been a good old fashioned scruff up you and the lads would take care of yourself.

Try being a geordie. Our rep for drinking/being twats is worse :p

Binge drinking is where you don't drink at all in the week and then drink like 3 weeks worth in the weekend or something. I think anyway

Joelle. 03-08-2011 11:55 PM

People who wander the streets intoxicated, with a can of Fosters in one hand and a Costcutter carrier bag containing the other 5 cans in the other hand. Usually on their way to the pub.

Yeah definitely, can't escape the cameras these days and the police are way more advanced.

God I mean people literally got away with murder in those days, very basic with DNA and all that. They had it a lot harder than we do now. It's that whole golden generation thing that is a myth

This is more or less what I do. I don't drink often but when I do I drink a lot.

But at the Royal Hospital, this girl was like, "Had two bottles of vodka, a pint of laaaager. It was me birthdee on Saterdee, so...

Wanna change my accent after that. Being a Scouser isn't easy, despite what some may think. :(

Yeah I thought that too but it's steadily turning to they'll say you binge drink if you have a shandy per week

Stu 03-08-2011 11:58 PM

I remember watching a documentary on drinking culture in Britain - one of those late night Bravo shows with names like Brits Badly Boozed XI or something - and they revealed the most alcoholic town in Britain was some posh little village.

It had no binge drinking culture but they drank far, far more than other towns when you added it all up because the drink was spread across the week. People would be going in to the pubs having sherrys and pints all day in small amounts and bollocks like that.

I always lie to my doctors. They look down on me otherwise

According to them I only ever drink on birthdays and special occasions, and only smoke 2/3 cigarettes a day :D

Apparently binge drinking is a lot worse for you as well

Boothy 04-08-2011 12:00 AM

Meh. I dont believe its worse for you.

Having a month or so inbetween gives your body time to recover. if you are having drink everyday, you get no time to recover as such.

Now, THAT'S what I'd call damaging to the reputation of us Scousers.

Twilight 04-08-2011 12:01 AM

Slags.

Vicky. 04-08-2011 12:01 AM

I dont actually understand people who will go to the pub regularly for a 'couple'. Whats the point? When I go out, I go out to get sluaghtered. not sit around talking pleasantries over a glass of wine.

InOne 04-08-2011 12:01 AM

Yeah, but I guess it depends on where you are. Some drink every day but it moderation cos it's just part of their culture. And probably never go overboard. But some just go crazy at the weekends
