Why am I the only that uses the Pen Tool.

*Waits for, 'Well we saw it did to your banner so we avoided it.'*

Whats a pen tool btw ? x
If you are on Photoshop, its down near the text and custom shape tool. It is normally used to make shapes but you can put it in 'Paths' mode you can right click after you have drawn round and then click make selection. :)

Love the Banner Nicky and Xander! Scampi I like the top one.

I've done two versions of my second banner for the contest but I can't decide which one I might use.

Nicky. 30-10-2008 10:20 PM

Umm..

I like them both..

But I'll say the top one because it looks more dark like the rest of the banner! :bouncy: x

Tom4784 31-10-2008 12:56 AM

Thanks Nicky! I've made myself a new banner, It's different from my usual ones because I like using cut out renders but I've tried to go for a smudge on none cut out ones instead. I think it turned out all right.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...smudgetext.jpg

Then I started to experiment with the colour options.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...colourtext.jpg

Now I can't decide which I like best. I think the coloured one looks better but I dunno if I've gone over the top with it?

Xander 31-10-2008 01:00 AM

Ooh I like the top one Dezzy, just because its not as bright as the other one, which I think is too bright? Its good that your experimenting with colour though maybe just tone it down a bit?
A few little things which might help you are that try not to squeeze the picture, as it makes the person look a bit squished, like on the far left hand side, and pictures look far better if the person is just at the normal width and heights. Also try and use different colours on the fonts, I'm not sure what you can do on GIMP, but try and like experiment a bit more with text effects, as the one you used is quite dark?
Other than that the blending is really good, and I really like the banner. :D

Tom4784 31-10-2008 01:38 AM

Thanks Xander!I took your advice on the text and brightness issues. Unfortunately I couldn't resize the pictures but I think these version are much better!

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ourtextalt.jpg

I tried putting a brighter shade of red on the text but it didn't look very nice so I just put a few odd effects on the text to make it look less flat. I've also brought down the brightness on the coloured version.

LemonJam 31-10-2008 06:08 PM

Yeh, I'm a beginner with Banners so any advice is taken on board from you super-pro's.

That's alot better, the second one is more colourized but not as bright and looks really good! I still like the first one alot too, and the font effect you have used makes it stand out alot more than it did before. :D

LemonJam - Oooh wow its really good seeing as your a beginner!
