It had no binge drinking culture but they drank far, far more than other towns when you added it all up because the drink was spread across the week. People would be going in to the pubs having sherrys and pints all day in small amounts and bollocks like that.

But no one bats and eyelid at professionals across the land who regulary have whiskey throughout the day and then sink a bottle of wine once home.

Well, I've only had like 4 ciders tonight, I just went down for the social scene

Oh yeah, I still go out more often than once a month or whatever

But I dont actually LIKE the taste of alcohol. So I drink pop when I dont wanna be pissed. I cant imagine anyone liking the taste of alcohol tbh, especially lager/beer/cider D:

Edit. Just realized my first post came across in a totally different way to what I meant :suspect:

Nowt wrong with having three or four in the pub then coming back home to watch telly.

As long as you buy 8 or so cans on the way, like.

I dunno. I reckon a beer is the most refreshing thing on a hot day. I do quite like the taste of beer. I like the taste of some whiskeys too, mostly peaty scotches.

I'd agree with that but with the moreish nature of alcohol I can't just sink 3 or 4 cans and leave it at that which is a shame because the drinking is really at it's best when it first starts to excite you. It's all downhill after those first few yet it's virtually impossible to not want to go on.

As for alcohol not tasting nice ... balls to that. Few things are nicer than a good Guiness.

Guiness is one of the worst things I have ever tasted :bored:

I'm like that, once I get the taste for it I either get some to take home or stop off at the offie lol

I just don't like the hangover feeling. That's the only objection I have to getting drunk, even though I'm wasted so often.

whats the point going out to get pissed up, when you just end up out of pocket and feeling **** the next day

Kerry 04-08-2011 12:09 AM

Lagers nice on a hot day. Also if you're sat outside in the evening cider and orange is so refreshing

Same. I never usually get too bad because, although I drink a lot, I drink slowly so I never get to a stage where I don't know what I'm doing.

Madness. It's a delicious beverage. Pulled in a good pub mind you. No watered down club nonsense or cans or bottles. That's heresy.

Guiness is super easy to drink, tastes great, is just about the right strength, and is a proven source of iron.

It also has this odd tendancy to wake my body up at 6 or 7 the next morning feeling fresh as a daisy. If I go back to sleep I have awfully strong dreams because of the sudden influx of proper REM sleep.

Vicky. 04-08-2011 12:11 AM

I think i need to visit ireland to have a real try :suspect:

And it doesn't get you drunk quickly. I usually dilute mine with coke, though.

I notice it helps if you feel unbearably tired.
