"I don't want to go!"

Tennant saw it coming.

The show has changed pretty much every part of itself many times to survive over 54 years and this is a change it has not experimented with thus far and if the show is in desperate need of anything it's a major overhaul.

And if done right, this could turn the shows fortunes around.

Trying to replicate a past era would not have worked.

Changing the main character to a female is a stretch too far. End of the matter

It's not a stretch at all though.

The Doctor has a 100% physical transformation every single time.

And, no, you don't get to say when the end of the discussion is. Don't be so bloody rude!

"End of matter" - Sorry, others have an opinion too

Bill's coming back for the Christmas special :amazed:

MB. 23-07-2017 09:18 PM

(it's called Twice Upon a Time)

Jarrod 23-07-2017 09:26 PM

That new trailer was epic!

Spoiler:

Pearl Mackie just confirmed that Christmas is her last episode and she won't be back for Series 11 :(

Morgan. 23-07-2017 09:28 PM

Mark Gatiss. :skull:

Greg! 23-07-2017 09:50 PM

Mark Gatiss has played about 5 characters in this show now :skull:

The episode looks good though! Can't wait for the regeneration. I hope Jodie has a few lines at the end.

Jarrod 23-07-2017 10:17 PM

Meanwhile, at Torchwood

So Bill is gone after Christmas?

God Moffat is ****.

It probably wasn't his decision to be fair.

Ashley. 23-07-2017 11:35 PM

I assume Chibnall could have kept her on for another season if he wished but probably wanted to start from a blank canvas.

The End of Time - Tennant, RTD leave
The Time of the Doctor - Smith leaves
Twice Upon a Time - Capaldi, Moffat leave

I'm sensing a theme here  (not to mention that Smith and Moffat's first episode was also time-related)

Scarlett. 24-07-2017 12:07 AM

From what I understand Mark Gatiss is also leaving, so him appearing in this is something of a thank you for him, I don't mind him appearing anyway, he's a decent actor. I think Bill leaving is probably for the best, her story is pretty much done, I ended up liking her a lot more than I expected.

That's interesting actually as Gatiss has acted and wrote episodes for RTD and Moffat.

Was Series 9 any good?

MB. 26-07-2017 11:31 PM

I'm waiting for it to arrive on Netflix before I can make a balanced judgement, but I'll be really unhelpful and say... kind of and also kind of not? There are definitely some stand-out stories and of course it's completely subjective (if you're a fan of majority two-parter, darker, heavily Moffatian episodes and lots and lots of Clara then you might love it), but something about it just felt... off and not very Who-like for me at the time. I might change my opinion completely when I re-watch but the whole Ashildr plot and Clara's prolonged farewell tour, plus the thought of episodes like Sleep No More make me hesitant. I know the critics absolutely loved it though, so -shrug-
