I'm not saying it did badly commercially, I'm saying it's objectively not her best music, and that EVERY artist has albums that aren't their best (obviously) -- I have a 16 year old Swift fan, she pre-ordered the limited edition vinyl, I know objectively-if-anecdotally that a lot of actual Taylor Swift fans were underwhelmed by this one.

If anything, the hype leading up to it (and thus breaking records) probably didn't help with people feeling it didn't live up to expectations, as is often the case when things are over-hyped.
