He was a bit greedy when he was getting like 2-3 appearances a season with us, and often used too many stepovers/fancy tricks rather than just working hard at it. Since he went to QPR he looks to be maturing and bettering though, and he's obviously getting more playtime to develop. Scored an awesome freekick against Derby at the weekend.

Alberto Aquilani could make his Liverpool debut against Arsenal on Wednesday after being named in the squad for our Carling Cup fourth round clash.

The 25-year-old will not start at the Emirates but Benitez may utilise him as a substitute at some point.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He will be with us. He is improving his fitness, so he's in the squad.

"He cannot start at this moment but he will be there and maybe we can give him some minutes. If it's possible we will try to use him."

Benitez believes the Italy international, who hasn't featured since signing from Roma in the summer due to an ankle injury, will add a new dimension to his midfield.

"We can see in every training session that he has quality, game intelligence and good movements," said the Spaniard. "He is a different kind of player for us.

"We talk about using Gerrard deeper sometimes, but maybe in Aquilani we have a player who can play there and pass the ball really well in the final third."

What a player

King Gizzard 27-10-2009 03:11 PM

if he stays injury free he could be world class

Locke. 27-10-2009 03:16 PM

Looks like he'll be more effective than Alonso going forward anyway

King Gizzard 27-10-2009 03:19 PM

Delphinho will find a way past Gordon tonight

Hope Tony is back again this season. Saw the actor on Soccer AM last week, he was on Loose Women aswell, didn't see that though.

Lauren 27-10-2009 07:36 PM

HT at SoL. Sunderland dominating most of the first half (apart from the beginning... seemed like a bad start thats all). Hope it doesn't go to ET and Pens lmao.

Locke. 27-10-2009 07:37 PM

I hope Villa score an injury time winner that deflects in from a beach ball

Lauren 27-10-2009 07:38 PM

LMAO David!! Don't think the Villa fans are so thick to bring a beachball, like ermm... ...

andyman 27-10-2009 07:45 PM

Wrong thread, think that's the first time I've ever done that

Nasri and Aquilani will both have the chance to make their first appearances of the season.

Surprising how everton are doing.

And sunderland scored 1/5 penalties?? lol

30stone 28-10-2009 10:57 AM

Wilshire is injured so wont feature against liverpool )=

30stone 28-10-2009 11:02 AM

Goalkeepers: Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Fabianski

Defenders: Philippe Senderos, Kyle Bartley, Mikael Silvestre, Kieran Gibbs, Kerrea Gilbert, Craig Eastmond

Midfielders: Fran Merida, Francis Coquelin , Emmanuel Frimpong, Aaron Ramsey, Mark Randall, Samir Nasri

Forwards: Eduardo, Gilles Sunu, Nicklas Bendtner, Sanchez Watt

Im very dissapointed in one thing.
That Giles Sunu is in the team over Carlos Vela.
HEs a real difference maker and needs all the play he can get.

Not a bad team, just as weak as we feilded against west broms full side and we destroyed them lol.

King Gizzard 28-10-2009 12:29 PM

Yes ben, guzan saved an 83rd penalty in normal time, then 3 penalties in the shootout

told you he was awesome

30stone 28-10-2009 12:32 PM

Arsenal will poach him.

Were they like spectacular saves? or just he dived the right way and height?

I am seriously seriously HOPING so much that we can win tonight no matter how scrappy and lucky, we need a cup. I know wenger doesnt care for it but the fans would be happy that we finally win somthing.

King Gizzard 28-10-2009 12:35 PM

Guzan would not go to Arsenal

and yes they were all diving saves

30stone 28-10-2009 01:28 PM

Guzan wouldnt get to play :)

King Gizzard 28-10-2009 01:32 PM

Much better than Almunia

30stone 28-10-2009 01:33 PM

:nono:
