Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I have to say the last 4 are actually 4 very average teams.

Only Argentina can leave the World Cup saying they played well.

Germany, home soil has helped immensely

Italy, easy route so far and they haven't played that well. Buffon has been immense for them

Portugal, they've dived and cheated from game 1

France, poor in the group, but they have beaten Spain and Brazil

I'd say anyone that can beat Brazil, deserves to be World Champions.
Argentina were certainly the team who I felt should have won it but Pekerman messed up with his subs against Germany.Germany have impressed me though so perhaps them.

I've not liked Italy since their game against USA where I felt they were poor and De Rossi's elbow was sickening, then the cheating against Australia.

France seem to be peaking at the right time so I'm going for Germany vs France in the final with France winning, just so long as Portugal don't con the ref again they should beat them.

SiMoN! 01-07-2006 10:10 PM

o well, i am not really that arsed who wins it

i am sure the ref is chance the match

InTheHood 01-07-2006 10:13 PM

Let's hope Italy and Portugal don't make it, or it makes a mockery of the game.

I heard someone say today, that England's downfall is that they are too honest and they don't cheat enough like Portugal/Italy/Argentina etc etc

Well, the Dutch don't cheat (Apart from Robben!!) and we tried it against Portugal and you'll recall the results :sad:

BigSister 01-07-2006 10:15 PM

i think its going to be Germany vs France too Dan

SiMoN! 01-07-2006 10:16 PM

yer some1 said that in the match. were r to honest and then always get cheated out of it

Jay 01-07-2006 10:22 PM

Im hoping it will be France v Germany in the final i just hope Portugal don't get their.

xGemmax 01-07-2006 10:53 PM

I think the final is likely to be ItalyvsFrance. After England, i will support Italy as im half Italian.

James 01-07-2006 11:34 PM

France and Germany have played very well - they've put out three of the favourites, you can't argue with that.

Zidane is still a class act.

They showed the Rooney incident on the ITV highlights there - makes me wince every time I see it!

Dan_ 02-07-2006 12:52 AM

They don't seem to be showing Ronaldo's 'headbutt' on Rooney much.

InTheHood 02-07-2006 08:42 AM

I see this morning Ronaldo is denying trying to get Rooney sent off, and he feels the English press will blame him.

Bit of guilt (and fear!) setting in!

James 02-07-2006 09:11 AM

Cristiano Ronaldo is the official Alpay 2006 England Scapegoat™.

Is that like Kutuzov (Belarus) & Dadu (Moldova) are the 2005 Cayasso (Costa Rica) & Petersen (Faroes) Scapegoats :joker:

I would say 2006 but Scotland didn't get that far :wink:

I like this English/Scottish banter, it's like our Dutch/Belgian banter............one is bigger than the other and the little ones get more pleasure out of the bigger ones losing than there own teams winning :joker:

easypeasy 02-07-2006 11:11 AM

trust us to get an Argentinian referee.......we had lost the game the moment he was appointed the position of being in charge........them lot still hold a grudge for the Falklands and Argentian people think taking a dive is a fair and natural part of football. we didnt stand a chance.

Nope. England lost the game when the wonderful Ronaldo netted that last penalty.

England lost the game when hand balls were ignored and a player was sent off unreasonably. funny thing was though we still outplayed portugal with one man less. just a shame Lampard has been having real trouble seeing the goal this tournement........

easypeasy 02-07-2006 11:27 AM

truth is we are still in need of a replacement for Paul Scholes.....
one good midfielder is worth 5 mediocre ones......

SiMoN! 02-07-2006 12:11 PM

portugal could not beat us with ten men on

the ref won the games for portugal

It's just "friendly" banter
At least one person in this thread has an ounce of sense...

 Blanket&Crib

I can't believe how irate everyone got after I left. I can't believe how easy it is to wind people up...

So True.

InTheHood 02-07-2006 06:49 PM

Sadly, overnight alot of trouble in England, and a bit in Scotland.

Near me, alot of fighting, including some serious beaten Portuguese.

In Scotland, thugs decided it would be good to pick on 2 young English boys, aged 8 and 10. They roughed them up despite the appeals of there Scottish Mother.

This isn't what football is about and all this England/Scotland banter, seems to encourage hooligans.

It's a shame, as those who enjoy the real banter as just banter just add to the problem, when really it should just be fun.

I'm debating as to whether these big tournaments are worth it.

The standard of football has dropped in recent years. Seeing Zidane the other night was a joy to watch, something I haven't enjoyed in so long.

Then we have most players do don't care enough

Then we have hooligans

SiMoN! 02-07-2006 07:35 PM

even though i love football

that last match i really enjoyed was when liverpool won the FA cup

Siouxsie 02-07-2006 09:15 PM
