I wonder if we'll see the regeneration? I know Steven Moffat said he wanted the 'complete box set' of regenerations that's why we got to see the 8th Doctor regenerate then the War Doctor into 9 to some degree.

I think the Timelords will be back next year.

Rob! 06-11-2014 12:29 PM

All reviews saying the series finale is spectacular. :amazed:

Apparently the Cybermen have never been so scary - this is them at their absolute core. The full body horror of them is fully explored, they're not just an additional asset to the plot, they're very relevant. Which is good because the cybermen have been absolute gash since their first few appearances.

Saturday's is the series finale? Already? :( I was just getting used to the idea of actually enjoying watching Dr Who

DS forum is in a meltdown over the Master's sex change. :fan:

It's like they can believe all this sci-fi stuff, the Tardis bigger on the inside etc but a Time Lord regenerating into another gender is far too unbelievable and they get their geeky knickers in a twist.

I know, DS get on my tits. Their BB views annoy me too.

The master being a woman is a genius move in my view - I hope Michelle Gomez keeps the role beyond what happens on Saturday. It's also the perfect answer to the Can the Doctor be a woman question. Apparently Gomez is spectacular in Death In Heaven, really encompassing everything the Master is supposed to be about.

I can't wait :amazed:

Marsh. 06-11-2014 01:08 PM

I love Gomez too. Hated John Simm as the Master, I thought he was awful.

Jamesy 06-11-2014 01:56 PM

I hope she stays as The Master. Hopefully she can appear next series again or the series after that!

A number of people have complained about one of the plot lines to Off Com and the BBC (See here) to wit

Quote:

Missy's accomplice Dr Chang claimingthat dead people remained conscious and could feel the pain of cremation, while those who had donated their bodies to medical science underwent similarly unpleasant experiences.
As my mother died in August, and she was cremated, I found this distressing. I do not know what the rest of our family think about it. And no I did not put in a complaint, maybe I should have done.

Shaun 06-11-2014 03:31 PM

It's obviously an uncomfortable idea but it's a work of fiction...

Marsh. 06-11-2014 03:33 PM

I don't see why people would complain.

The show wasn't making these claims in any real world sense but within the universe of the show as the "dead" were still conscious in someway.

Honestly, they even had complaints about Capaldi pulling a hair off his head in episode 1. PC brigade gone mad.

Sticks 06-11-2014 08:48 PM

But by putting the idea out there, you can put in the backs of people's minds "what if..." especially if they have unexpectedly lost someone close to them.

I also worry if this could affect the issue of organ donation.

Marsh. 06-11-2014 08:56 PM

 It's Doctor Who! Not Panorama.

It's fiction. It's a show about a 2000 year old time travelling alien, whose worst enemy is a dustbin with a plunger.

People have far too much time on their hands to complain over something as stupid as that.

Fortunately most people can tell the difference between reality and fiction.

Glenn. 07-11-2014 12:54 PM

The doctor even said its a complete con

Rob! 08-11-2014 05:05 PM

Nearly all the spoiler free reviews I've read have said it's fantastic. Also worth noting that previewers normally get about one or two plot points that they are not even allowed to mention in their review. This episode there are seven apparently.
I'm going to have to stay off the internet till I get home.

Jarrod 08-11-2014 08:08 PM

:suspect: Well, that was a strange ending.

Glenn. 08-11-2014 08:12 PM

I'm still scratching my head tbh.

Spoiler:

has Clara gone now?

Tom4784 08-11-2014 08:18 PM

It was definitely the best season finale since Moffat took over. There's only a couple of things that niggled at me.

Spoiler:

(seemingly) Killing off Missy was a mistake. Michelle Gomez was brilliant in the role and I'd have liked to have seen her again as The Master.

The ending felt a bit off, if that is the end of Clara's story then it's a disappointing one. Even Martha got a more satisfying sendoff.

Aside from that though I loved it.

Jarrod 08-11-2014 08:19 PM

Jenna was confirmed a while back for the Christmas episode.

Jarrod 08-11-2014 08:36 PM

Spoiler:

I loved the twist they put on the opening titles :amazed:
